NEW VILLAGE HALL DESIGNS UNVEILED
This week at the Committee of the Whole meeting, Schaumburg officials reviewed design renderings of the new Village Hall. Since May, staff has been working with Williams Architects and their consultants to develop schematic floor plans, elevations, and site plans for the reconstruction of the Village Hall. Numerous design meetings have been held with village employees to identify operational needs that will allow staff to continue to serve the public in the best way possible. The ground floor will include departments that heavily interact with customers, such as Finance, Community Development, and Transportation, while the second floor will house the Board Room as well as other departments that do not experience as much public interaction.
The exterior of the building proposes using a “modern prairie style,” and materials used in the structure will be designed to allow for natural lighting to flow into the building. These early concepts indicate the direction of design and will continue to be refined to best meet the village’s goals.
The new building will be constructed at 101 Schaumburg Court following the demolition of the current Village Hall, which is anticipated to occur in May 2025. Municipal operations will be conducted out of a temporary Village Hall located at 1000 Woodfield Road while the new Village Hall is constructed.
The schematic design will be considered at the Tuesday, Oct. 22 Village Board meeting, which, if approved, will kick off design development with Williams Architects. For more information on this capital improvement project, dial 311 in the village.

PUMPKIN COMPOSTING AVAILABLE AFTER HALLOWEEN
The Schaumburg Engineering and Public Works Department is partnering with Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS) to offer a more sustainable way to dispose of your pumpkins after Halloween. From Friday, Nov. 1 through Sunday, Nov. 3, area residents are invited to drop off their pumpkins for composting in the designated boxes located in the parking lots of two convenient locations:
- Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts, 201 Schaumburg Ct.
- Schaumburg Police Department, 1000 W. Schaumburg Rd.
Residents are asked to remove any non-compostable materials such as glitter, candle wax and any other plastic before dropping off their pumpkins. There’s no limit on the number of pumpkins you can bring, and this free, drop-and-go event is open to the public.
Composting pumpkins not only helps keep waste out of landfills, but it also reduces greenhouse gas emissions and conserves water – all of which makes a positive environmental impact. Learn more about organic composting in Schaumburg online. Information on all recycling opportunities in Schaumburg can be found on the website.
