SCHAUMBURG RECEIVES GFOA DISTINGUISHED BUDGET PRESENTATION AWARD
The Village of Schaumburg is pleased to announce it has once again received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting.

To receive the award, Schaumburg satisfied nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. The guidelines assess how well an organization’s budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, and a communications device. Budget documents must achieve a proficiency rating in all four categories, including 14 mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award.

The annual budget is a policy document that sets the financial course for the village and defines the service priorities for the community. It is the culmination of months of effort by the entire village staff led by Assistant Village Manager Paula Hewson, Assistant to the Village Manager Clayton Black, and the Finance Department to balance available resources with the services provided to Schaumburg residents, businesses and visitors. To read more about this prestigious honor, please visit the village's website.
CELEBRATE HALLOWEEN SAFELY
The Village of Schaumburg wishes to ensure the safety and tradition of a Happy Halloween.
  • The Village of Schaumburg does not have any ordinances that regulate trick-or-treating within Schaumburg municipal limits
  • Halloween occurs this year on Sunday, Oct. 31. For those who wish to trick-or-treat, recommended hours are from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. during daylight hours.
  • Homes participating in trick-or-treating should turn on their front porch/outdoor lights. If your home will not be handing out candy, please turn off your lights.
  • Do not participate in trick-or-treating or other activities if you, or a member of your group, feels unwell, is awaiting COVID-19 test results, or have been exposed to COVID-19. Additional safety guidance for activities, gatherings and holidays is available on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website.

For more information, including general trick-or-treating safety tips from the Schaumburg Police Department and Schaumburg Fire Department, visit the village's website.
