Know Before You Go
The village reminds attendees to practice safety first when attending the fest:
  • Be sure to check the local weather prior to leaving home and utilize weather apps and alerts on your smartphone.
  • Know your location and where to seek shelter if threatened with inclement weather. Signage will be readily available at the fest to help guide participants to safe locations. Emergency shelter locations can also be found on the interactive Septemberfest map online. Please refrain from seeking shelter in tents.
  • Sign up to receive timely fest-related emergency notifications on your mobile device to be alerted of a fest closure or suspension due to inclement weather or other types of emergencies. Sign-up can be completed online, by texting FEST2022 to 888777, or onsite by scanning the emergency QR code found on signs located throughout the festival grounds.
  • If you see something, say something. Remain vigilant and report information on threats, or perceived threats, directly to the police department by dialing 911.
LABOR DAY PARADE ANNOUNCEMENT
The village’s emergency planning team works diligently to ensure our first responders are trained, equipped and prepared to immediately respond to critical incidents, so they can preserve the life and safety of Schaumburg residents and visitors. Planning efforts associated with larger events, such as Septemberfest, often engage the assistance of outside agencies that support our trained personnel in a variety of ways.

This year during the Septemberfest parade, which kicks off 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 5, Cook County will be providing air support with a helicopter that may be flying in and around the Municipal Center grounds the morning of the parade. This measure is being performed—not due to any reported threats—but just as a precaution, to provide an additional layer of support to village operations to ensure a safe event for all. For those who may have questions, please contact the village’s non-emergency number (847) 895-4500 or dial 311 if you live in Schaumburg.
FREE CATALYTIC CONVERTER THEFT DETERRENT EVENT SEPT. 10
The Schaumburg Police Department is hosting a free theft deterrent event for Schaumburg residents from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10 at Jiffy Lube, 801 W. Golf Rd., to help prevent vehicle catalytic converter thefts.

Schaumburg police are encouraging residents who own vehicles with a high risk of catalytic converter theft to have their catalytic converter spray painted. High-risk vehicles include Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, Toyota Prius, Nissan NV200, Honda Element, and Hyundai Santa Fe. Jiffy Lube technicians will be applying spray paint onto the catalytic converter. Police officers will also be distributing complimentary "Theft Prevention" vehicle window stickers.

Marking the catalytic converter is a free crime prevention service the police department is offering to the Schaumburg community in partnership with Jiffy Lube. The visible mark is one way to help deter thieves.

Labor Day Traffic Safety Campaign
The Schaumburg Police Department, in partnership with the Illinois State Police and local law enforcement across Illinois, announced its plans for a traffic safety campaign focusing on impaired driving and other dangerous behavior such as distracted driving and failure to buckle up. The high-visibility mobilization will run now through the early morning hours of Sept. 6 to include the Labor Day holiday, an often deadly time on Illinois roads. This Labor Day weekend, remember to designate a sober driver and don’t let friends or family drive drunk or impaired by drugs. Even a small amount of alcohol or other drug can impair judgment and reaction times, making driving unsafe.
Labor Day Administrative Office Closures
The Robert O. Atcher Municipal Center, 101 Schaumburg Ct., and all Schaumburg administrative offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 5 in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Residents who need assistance can still dial 311 to reach a customer service representative or visit the village's website for more information on programs and services. Village administrative offices will reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 6. Due to the holiday, no garbage and recycling collection will take place on Sept. 5. Monday through Friday's collection will be delayed by one day.
RAH Golf Outing to Benefit the District 211 Foundation
Realtors Against Homelessness (RAH) will be hosting its 10th fundraiser to raise funds for the District 211 Foundation. The inaugural golf outing will take place from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19 at the Schaumburg Golf Club and Chandler's Chophouse, 401 N. Roselle Rd.
