DOCUMENT DESTRUCTION EVENT TAKES PLACE TOMORROW

Gather up your unwanted paper and take part in the village's free Document Destruction Event that will be held from 9 a.m. to noon tomorrow, Sept. 24 at the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts parking lot, 201 Schaumburg Ct. This drive-up event is for Schaumburg residents only. Identification is required. Limit two boxes/bags per vehicle. For more information, visit the village's website or dial 311 in Schaumburg.

HOPS & PROPS EVENT A SUCCESS
|
Schaumburg's 3rd annual Hops & Props event held on Sept. 17 at the Schaumburg Regional Airport was a great success. Approximately 600 guests attended the aviation-themed event and enjoyed live music, food, beer, wine and vintage aircraft. This year’s event was so successful that it broke all previous attendance records. Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate. We hope you will join us next year!

WINTER GLOVE AND MITTEN DRIVE AT VILLAGE HALL

Now through Oct. 17, the GFWC Northwest Suburban Woman's Club is collecting new gloves and mittens in men's, women's and children's sizes. A collection box is available inside the doors of the Robert O. Atcher Municipal Center, 101 Schaumburg Ct. These items will be used for a winter project that will benefit the clients of JOURNEYS | The Road Home. JOURNEYS | The Road Home serves 37 communities in north/northwest suburban Cook County providing shelter and social services.

Beatles vs. Stones Sept. 30
|
Two internationally renowned tribute bands battle it out, honoring the two most popular rock groups of all time: the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. 'Abbey Road' and 'Satisfaction-The International Rolling Stones Show' alternate power sets as they engage in a musical "shout out of the hits." Beatles vs. Stones will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30 at the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts, 201 Schaumburg Ct. SAVE THE DATE: Public Safety Open House Oct. 1

The Village of Schaumburg invites the public to attend the annual Public Safety Open House from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1 at the Public Safety Campus, 950/1000 W. Schaumburg Rd. This free, family-friendly event will feature interactive demonstrations and exhibits from the Schaumburg Fire Department and Schaumburg Police Department. Resident Reminder: If You See Something, Say Something
|
Sunday (Sept. 25) is National "If You See Something, Say Something" Awareness Day. While the Schaumburg Police Department appreciates the community's vigilance in alerting potential criminal activity in the village through social media, email or other online channels, the police department reminds residents to dial 911 if authorities need to be alerted to a situation that might require police attention. Please remember that information posted on social media might not always be true or accurate, which can lead to misinformation. For informational requests or issues that do not require an officer to be dispatched to a scene, dial 311 in the village or complete a Customer Service Request (CSR) on the village's website.

Windy City Ski and Snowboard Show Coming to Schaumburg
|
The Windy City Ski and Snowboard Show will be coming to the Schaumburg Convention Center, 1551 N. Thoreau Dr., Sept. 30 through Oct. 2. Chicagoland's newest and largest consumer ski and snowboard show will feature 70,000 square feet of retailers, resorts, clubs, and manufacturers. The 3-day show is filled with prizes, lift ticket giveaways and even a huge super sale. For tickets and more information, visit the website.
