ICMA PRESENTS SCHAUMBURG WITH COMMUNITY HEALTH & SAFETY AWARD
The International City/County Management Association (ICMA) recently presented the Village of Schaumburg with the Community Health & Safety Award for its innovation and excellence in implementing the Crisis Response and Intervention Program. Assistant Village Manager Paula Hewson accepted the award on the village's behalf at the ICMA annual conference held in Pittsburgh, PA, this week.
During 2022, Schaumburg experienced a 46% increase in police interactions with individuals having suicidal ideations or other mental health crises. With thousands of calls for service involving individuals in crisis, the village recognized the need to address these challenges and implemented the Crisis Response and Intervention Program to improve safety, health, wellness, and to enhance the quality of life throughout the community.
Watch the video to learn how the program has helped individuals receive the proper care they need, and how it ensures a safer outcome for both officers and community members. For more information on the services provided by the police department's Quality of Life Division, visit the website or dial 311 in Schaumburg.
Thank You Deputy Police Chief Shawn Green
Deputy Police Chief Shawn Green played a significant role in the development and implementation of the Crisis Response and Intervention Program. Recently, it was announced that Deputy Chief Green was selected to become the Chief of Police for the Village of West Dundee. The Village of Schaumburg thanks him for his 26 years of dedicated service to the community, and wishes him well in the next chapter of his career.

| PAVEMENT DATA COLLECTION UNDERWAY | |
The Village’s pavement data collection consultant, Infrastructure Management Services (IMS), began driving Schaumburg streets earlier this week to gather vital information on the condition of village-owned roadways. Operations are expected to continue through the second week of October. This initiative aims to assess the condition of village roads by using a vehicle equipped with various sensors and cameras to assign each road a pavement condition index (PCI) value ranging from 1 to 100. Once the data collection and analysis are complete, the PCI ratings will be used to plan upcoming street maintenance and the reconstruction program for the village’s Capital Improvement Plan. For questions, please contact the Engineering and Public Works Department at (847) 895-7100.

Residents are reminded that leaves should not be blown or disposed of from their yards into village streets or raked into parkways. Debris left in the street may cause stormwater to back up if leaves block and clog sewers. It is also a violation of the Village Code of Ordinances. All landscape waste must be bagged properly and placed at the curb for pick up. Landscape waste pick-up services are offered through the second full week of December. Visit the website for more information.
