GATEWAY SIGN REPLACEMENT PROJECT
|
The Village of Schaumburg will begin a project to replace its gateway signs that are located throughout village entryways. The project includes the replacement of 12 existing concrete signs and the addition of one new sign that will be located at Roselle Road and Central Road near the Roselle Road bike path bridge. The large stone gateway sign located at East Frontage Road and Higgins Road (IL-72) will not be replaced as part of this project.
The signs will incorporate the new village branding and identity in a modern design that will welcome pedestrians and motorists into the Schaumburg community. Entryway signs create a sense of place and quality, attract attention, convey the community’s image as a high-quality place to live, and help the community stand apart from its neighbors.
The project will take place in phases where existing signs will be demolished, new foundation will be poured, and the new fabricated signs will be installed. The first locations to undergo work include the following: Irving Park Road and Mitchell; Roselle Road and Lunt Avenue; Plum Grove Road and Wise Road; and Meacham and Vermont. Work will include intermittent lane closures to accommodate staging and movement of equipment and materials. Temporary sidewalk closures may also occur depending on the location and will be signed with detour information as needed.
Work at all 13 locations is anticipated to be largely complete by the fall with final landscaping occurring in the spring of 2023. For more information on this project, please dial 311 in the village.
