Dear High School Parents:

As you know, the last day of school through SPS At Home will be Thursday, May 21. In preparation for the final few weeks of school, SPS has received the following questions from students and parents:

  • How and when do I pick up my personal belongings left behind in school buildings?
  • How and when do I return items that belong to SPS?

This email provides clarity on the timeline and process for picking up and/or returning items before the end of the 2019-2020 year. Please Note : All items will be processed in the carline outside the school and individuals will not enter the building. This ensures that all necessary tasks are completed while the district maintains appropriate social distancing.

Items for Pick-Up
  • SPS will place all personal belongings left inside school buildings in bags labeled with the student’s name. This includes all contents of student desks/lockers. 
  • When requesting items in the carline by student name, parents or students will be asked to provide the appropriate identification to verify ownership.
  • High school seniors are asked to pick up graduation-related items. This includes cap and gown, all materials ordered from Herff Jones, and Class of 2020 yard signs.

Items for Return
  • Please Note: Students do not need to return SPS-issued iPads and Chromebooks until they return for classes in the Fall. If you need to return an iPad or Chromebook before school resumes in August, please contact your school.
  • Items to be returned include Garmins, library books, musical instruments, and extra-curricular items (uniforms, equipment), etc.
  • Parents or students will be asked for the student’s name to complete the check-in process.
  • Please Note: To equip all students to continue learning, the return of district-issued Kajeet hotspots should be delayed until May 19 or May 20, as outlined below.

Carline Schedule
High school families should pick up and return items according to the following schedule. If families have students in multiple grade levels, please let your school know the day you plan to pick up or drop off items on behalf of the family.
  • 12th grade, Last Name A-F: Wednesday, May 6 - 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.*
  • 12th grade, Last Name G-O: Thursday, May 7 - 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.*
  • 12th grade, Last Name P-Z: Friday, May 8 - 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.*
  • 11th grade, Last Name A-F: Monday, May 11 - 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • 11th grade, Last Name G-O: Tuesday, May 12 - 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • 11th grade, Last Name P-Z: Wednesday, May 13 - 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • 10th grade, Last Name A-F: Thursday, May 14 - 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • 10th grade, Last Name G-O: Friday, May 15 - 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • 10th grade, Last Name P-Z: Monday, May 18 - 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • 9th grade, Last Name A-F: Tuesday, May 19 - 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • 9th grade, Last Name G-O: Wednesday, May 20 - 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • 9th grade, Last Name P-Z: Thursday, May 21 - 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • All grades, Evening Option: Tuesday, May 19 - 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.*
  • All grades, Evening Option: Wednesday, May 20 - 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.*
*A note about Kajeets: District-issued Kajeets will be turned in May 19 and May 20. District-issued Kajeets for Seniors will be turned in on their scheduled drop off days, May 6, 7 and 8).
