Pancakes, sausages, fruit and beverage served for a free-will offering to benefit Young Adult in Global Mission Ole Schenk in Svargas, Hungary.  Proceeds matched by a grant from Thrivent Bremer County Branch 31124

 

St. Paul's 5K STOMP and Walk-a-thon
April 26 9 am

It's a 5K race and 1 mile walk that will benefit the ELCA campaign to eliminate malaria throughout the world. The event begins Saturday morning at 9:00 AM. The 5K route begins in Kohlmann Park (adjacent to St. Paul's) and runs along the Cedar River and over the scenic Rail Trail bridge near downtown Waverly. An awards ceremony will follow the race with prizes, t-shirts, and medals being awarded to racers in various age brackets. Everyone is invited to join in the fun and help stomp out malaria permanently! Go here for more information and to register.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church

During this Lenten season, Adult Forum programs at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will focus on Osvaldo Golijov's composition La Pasion Segun San Marcos (The Passion According to St. Mark).  

 

Brooke Joyce, Good Shepherd Organist and Interim Director of Music, coordinated this six-part series with other professionals in music and theology from Luther College including Michael O'Brien, Ethnomusicologist; David Vasquez, Campus Pastor; and, Germano Streese, Pastor and Librarian.  Joan Mau, Pastor of Good Shepherd, will also be a presenter.  During the first session, Streese, a native of Brazil, will discuss several works of liturgical music from Latin America that include indigenous pieces.  During the following five Sundays, segments of Golijov's work on DVDs will be shown and discussed.

    The 26th Annual LSTC Gospel Choir Concert

    The 26th Annual LSTC Gospel Choir Concert will  feature several area Gospel choirs and musicians as well as LSTC's own Gospel Choir under the leadership of Dr. Keith Hampton.     Luther College Passover Celebration

    Thursday, April 24, 5:00 p.m., Peace Dining Room

    Interfaith Holiday Meal celebration. Join College Ministries and the Diversity Center for a model Seder, a Jewish tradition that celebrates the Passover theme of freedom from slavery and oppression. Cost: $3.00 for children and Luther students with a meal plan and $8.00 for all others. Space is limited.   Tickets available at the Luther College Ticket Office and must be purchased by  Thursday, April 17.  A service fee is applied to on-line and over the phone orders.
