A Message from Principal Engelkins
Schenk Families,

As we kick off the school year, you will be hearing from your teacher to arrange a time for you to connect with them individually. This is a chance for you and your student to meet your teacher, share a bit about your student and discuss any questions you may have.

Additionally, we are hosting Zoom Back to School Nights, as a chance to meet more of the staff that will be supporting your student virtually, learn about the daily schedule and get a peek at SeeSaw, the online platform we'll be using for virtual learning this fall.

We hope you are able to make it. If not, we will follow up to make sure you have the information you need for the first days of school.

Remember, school starts at 8:30am on Tuesday, Sept. 8th!

We can't wait to get started!

Ms. Amy Engelkins
MMSD Chromebook Exchange & Pick-Up
Students in grades 1-5 who have a MMSD-issued Chromebook will need to return it to La Follette High School to exchange it for a new laptop to use this year. The schedule is divided by grade level, please check it out here.

Kindergarten families and others who did not have a school Chromebook last year,
If your student will need a MMSD Chromebook for virtual learning this year, please plan to go to La Follette High School on the dates listed above to pick up a Chromebook.
How to join a Zoom Meeting

Our Zoom Back to School night will be hosted virtually on a website called Zoom.

This will also be the program we will use for your student to access their LIVE instruction each day (except Wednesdays).

If you have never joined Zoom before, please check out this brief tutorial. If you have questions, please contact our Library Media Technology Specialist, Sam Rae at

The First Day of School

The first day of virtual school this fall will be Tuesday, Sept. 8th. Students will join a Zoom link that they will be receiving via email from their teachers. All Zoom classes will begin at 8:30 am.

If you do not receive a Zoom link from your teacher this week, or need support with this, please fill out this form.

We cannot wait to see you on Zoom!
Community Resources

We know beginning the year completely virtually may pose childcare challenges for some families. The City of Madison has created this website to provide support with childcare, housing, food, jobs and internet access.
