DOING THE MOST GOOD
May 14th, the Salvation Army St. Petersburg Area Command hosted their annual Doing the Most Good Dinner. The guest of honor this year was University of Florida alumni (and NFL Hall of Famer) Emmitt Smith. Among those who met the football great were Scherer Construction of West Florida President Jim Crookston, his wife Cindy, and daughter Anna, and Scherer WFL Controller, Andy Diagneau. For the past twenty eight years, Scherer Construction has been partnering with the Salvation Army in projects ranging from dormitory renovations to local headquarter buildings. If you would like to help them in their quest to Do The Most Good, visit their website: www.salvationarmyusa.org.
NEW FACES

Scherer Construction of North Florida, LLC is pleased to welcome new project manager Erik Otte to the team! Erik comes to us from Layne Christensen and brings with him a strong basis in heavy, civil engineering type projects which were focused on sustainable initiatives. As a graduate of both Santa Fe College and University of North Florida, Erik has already proven to be an exceptional fit into the Scherer culture and has successfully bid several projects right off the bat. We are excited to include him in our office family and look forward to all that is to come. Welcome aboard, Erik!

GENERAL RV CENTER
Scherer recently broke ground on the next location for General RV Center located on a 28 acre site off of I-4 in Dover, FL.  The design build project features a 68,781 sf pre-engineered metal building system that will include a main sales floor, and maintenance and service building with 17 bays.  In an effort to save the client money and reduce environmental impact, Scherer worked with Doug Trimble of Ace Contracting and Jim Painter with All Crane Rental of Florida to relocate and existing 3,200sf metal building by hoisting it up on a 220 ton crane and placing it on a new concrete slab. TERRA COSTA AMENITY CENTER
Scherer Construction of North Florida has long sought  and now successfully won work with Standard Pacific Homes out of Jacksonville. We will be building the beautiful new club house, pool, entry structure, and directing all of the associated landscaping for the new Terra Costa subdivision amenity center located in Jacksonville, Florida. This project will incorporate some very high end finishes into a completely functional center with putting greens, bocce courts, playground, and even a splash pad for the kids. Erik Otte will head things up as the Project Manager, with Quality Assurance provided by Keith Journey, and the Project Superintendent will be Jim Plant, whose extensive experience in the field of hospitality construction will be put to excellent use. HITCHCOCK'S MARKETPLACE
The new Hitchcock's Market in Old Town, Florida, has wrapped up construction and is now open for business. Project Manager, Robert Weinstein, and Superintendent, Monte Lewis put the finishing touches on the 26,000 sf, ground up construction of this hometown grocery store. Scherer Construction self-performed both the site work and the concrete work for this project, located on the Highway 19 main thoroughfare. Congratulations to Mehmert Store Services on an exciting new presence in the community and to Robert and Monte for another successful Scherer project. Click here to see the finished product.
