Schneider takes on New Role as Development Services Director

Williston Economic Development - The City of Williston has filled a new administrative position designed to create a more favorable environment for future development. Mark Schneider officially became the Development Services Director on Thursday, Feb. 1. The longtime architect and home builder will oversee the services provided by the Williston Building Safety, Code Enforcement and Planning and Zoning Departments. His office is housed on the second floor of the Center for Development at 113 4th St. E. Read More

S&B Drilling celebrates Ribbon Cutting; Owners to present at 1MC March 7

Williston Economic Development - The owners of S&B Drilling recently celebrated the official grand opening of their new location at 6035 138th Ave NW. S&B Drilling was started by three experienced drilling rig operators who were laid off due to the slowdown of 2014-15. Initially, Chris Carmack, his son Clayton Carmack and John Lisle were planning to invest in the startup, but after their layoffs they decided to take the opportunity to the next level. Read more

Chatter Pediatric Therapy, Destiny Med Spa featured at 1MC Feb. 7

Williston Economic Development -  Two Williston entrepreneurs shared how they started their businesses at 1 Million Cups on Wednesday, Feb. 7. Katie Kringen, owner of Chatter Pediatric Therapy has grown her staff from one to ten in  fewer than three years while Victoria Clair hopes to open her new Destiny Med Spa in late March with a staff of seven. The next 1MC is March 7.
WSC announces New Scholarship; Enrollment remains steady

News Release - Each year the WSC Foundation creates something bigger and better for future WSC students. Beginning Fall 2018 graduates from Western North Dakota, Eastern Montana, Southern Saskatchewan or Southern Manitoba, Canada who have either passed six credits of Early Entry (dual credit) through WSC, have a cumulative high school GPA of a 2.75+, or an ACT score of 20+ (SAT equivalent) may be eligible to receive the WSC Foundation's new Academic Achievement Award (AAA). API Chili Cook-off raises $101,000 for Nonprofit Groups, Projects, Scholarships

Williston Herald - Torcsill walked away with three trophies and MDU took two at the 2018 API Chili Cook-off. The event raised a total of $101,000. Best chili went to MDU; best games and best decorated booth went to Torcsill and Secure Energy/RDO raised the most money during the day with $1,930. Read More

PSC to hold Public Hearing on Proposed $136 Million Gas Plant in Watford City Feb. 15

News Release - The North Dakota Public Service Commission (PSC) will hold a public hearing in Watford City on Thursday, February 15, regarding a proposal for a gas processing plant in McKenzie County. Arrow Field Services, LLC, has submitted an application for a permit to construct the Arrow Bear Den Gas Processing Plant II Project, which would have a processing capacity of 120 million cubic feet per day.   Read More

Belfield seeks Funding for US Highway 85 Improvements

Dickinson Press - Belfield is pursuing a Small Town Revitalization Endeavor for Enhancing Transportation (ND STREET) grant for its portion of Highway 85. The grant provides both state and federal funding to cities with populations under 5,000 for highway renovation, Belfield auditor Natalie Muruato said.  Read More
20 Under Forty Banquet March 2 in Williston


The Williston Herald will host its first-ever 20 Under Forty banquet on Friday, March 2 at the Old Armory in Williston. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6:30 p.m. followed by the recognition of the 2018 Class of 20 Under Forty recipients. The deadline to purchase tickets is Feb. 23. The meeting will be held from 8-10 a.m. at New Hope Wesleyan Church. The group's goal is to empower, uplift, motivate and inspire women.
02/27                   Network before Nine (NB9)
Network Before Nine is a new Chamber-sponsored networking event that runs from 7:30-9 a.m. at Gramma Sharon's Restaurant. Enjoy a light breakfast and bring your business cards for networking!
