Scholarship Cycle Now Open


The Community Foundation is now accepting scholarship applications. The deadline is Thursday, February 28th . All applications must be submitted online. To begin your application, please click here .

This year we have 50 available scholarship funds. You can view the full list here . After submitting your general application you will be directed to a page where you can choose specific scholarships. Some of our scholarships are automatically matched through the general application while others require additional information.

Autism Education Fund & Keokee Fund
Grants Available

The Autism Education Fund and Keokee Fund will begin accepting applications in January with a February 22th deadline. 501c3 organizations or government agencies may apply. Be thinking about any projects for which you wish to apply. 

The Keokee Fund's purpose is to support the education of academically gifted students. Click here for the Keokee grant application.

Danville/Pittsylvania Academy of Medicine Alliance begins scholarship with Foundation

The Danville/Pittsylvania Academy of Medicine Alliance has begun a scholarship with The Community Foundation of the Dan River Region. The Scholarship will support Danville/Pittsylvania County graduates who are pursuing medical fields of study.

The Danville/Pittsylvania Academy of Medicine Alliance began in 1926 and is the third oldest such alliance in the state. For more than 80 years, they have supported the community but the organization is now dissolving and wants to create a permanent scholarship to continue their good work. Tuesday, September 24, 2019: Contemporary Uses for Life Insurance in Estate Planning
  • Despite an historically high deferral and estate tax basic exclusion amount, life insurance, even if required less often than in past to provide cash to pay estate tax, remains a critical part of the asset mix of many clients. Life insurance can provide often-needed financial security and readily accessible liquidity.
