2024 CANDIDATE SCHOLARSHIPS

**July 2024 Update**


We have received $6,000 in additional funds from the Toronto Chapter to support six additional scholarships this year! Candidates from the Toronto chapter are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Requirements are identified in the application linked below.

The AIC Ontario Scholarship Award is accepting applications for 2024. These scholarships are awarded annually in September. All candidate members of AIC-Ontario are eligible to apply.


Application Deadline:


  • September 15, 2024.


Application Requirements:


  • A formalized grade of a course such as a unofficial transcript or a course pass letter.


  • Proof of registration for the chosen course must also be provided.


*Note: If you completed your final exam in December 2023 but received results after the Holiday Season or early in 2024, you qualify for the 2024 application.*


Transfer of 2023 Applications:


  • If you applied for the scholarship in 2023 and were informed by AIC-ON that your application would be transferred to 2024, you do not need to submit another application.


Applicants will be notified by the AIC Ontario office if any required paperwork is missing from their application.

Who is FSRA?


FSRA is an agency of the Government of Ontario.

FSRA regulates sectors such as:


  • Pensions
  • Financial Planners/Advisors
  • Mortgage Brokering
  • Property and Casualty & General Insurance
  • Auto Insurance
  • Co-Op Corporations
  • Credit Unions & Caisses Populaires
  • Loan & Trust

Margie Carlson, AIC-ON CEO & Dan Brewer P.App AACI, Fellow met with FSRA to:


  • Provide more information about AIC-ON
  • Provide greater depth about the Appraisal Profession
  • Expand on current industry issues such as AVM's, Mortgage fraud and non-OFSI regulated lending

AIC-ON's asks to FSRA:


  • Collaborate on challenges faced by appraisers
  • Keep us in mind for consultations & advice in future
  • Partner with AIC-ON for webinars
  • Join in on AIC/AIC-ON events to better understand the profession

Next Steps for AIC-ON:


  • Continue to foster relationship with FSRA by holding semi-annual meetings.
  • Hold a webinar with FSRA to provide more depth on their role as a government agency

STRATEGIC PLANNING UPDATE

The AIC-Ontario Board of Directors has been working hard on the Strategic Plan facilitated by Sarah Nicole Martin CEO of Optimal Affect.


So far in the Strategic Planning process we have collected information from:


  • An environmental scan of non-profit associations
  • 2024 AIC-ON Conference Engagement Session
  • 2 Webinars, for both CRA's & AACI's (designated and candidates working towards designation)
  • Interviews with select stakeholders
  • Focus Groups with select stakeholders
  • Survey with select stakeholders


Through careful planning, we've gathered a lot of information about where our association stands now and our potential for the future. We're excited to move ahead and will finalize details for our members by this fall.
