SPS Honors Juneteenth

Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when those who were still enslaved in Galveston, Texas, learned they were free. Our district celebrates the historical legacy of African American freedom and the extraordinary power of hope in times of uncertainty. All schools and the district central office will be closed in observance of this federal holiday.

Have a Great Summer The school year is winding down, but some schools have required make-up days. See the schedules. 

Time to Log Off SPS student devices will need to be returned to your school before the end of the school year. 

Jump In! Jump Start orients kindergartners and their families to their new school community by introducing students to their new school and routines.   

Contract Negotiations SPS began bargaining with the Seattle Education Association to negotiate a renewal of the educator contracts for 2022-23. 

Advanced Learning in Science While most students thrive off the mainstream science curriculum, others find excitement in an extra challenge — known at some schools as “going further.”

Peachjar e-Flyers This summer, SPS is launching Peachjar to share district and community digital flyers.  

Need Help with Utility Bills? Seattle City Light (electricity) and Seattle Public Utilities (water/sewer/garbage) offer payment plans and bill assistance programs to help families get caught up and stay current on utility bills. 

2022-23 Key Dates Calendar Important dates for the 2022-23 school year are now available. 

Keep Your ORCA Cards Hey Students - Your current ORCA card is now your NEW free youth transit pass! Keep your card through the summer and use it next fall! Your ORCA card will still work beyond the expiration date.  

High School Start Times All SPS high schools will shift to an 8:50 a.m. start time for the 2022-23 school year. 

Vaccine Clinics SPS is partnering with Safeway Pharmacy to offer COVID-19 vaccination and booster clinics for all SPS students, staff, and their families.
