SPS is focused on improving safety and well-being in schools, expanding partnerships to prevent violence, and continuing health services.

Movin’ and Groovin’ Seattle's All-City Band took the region, as well as D.C. and British Columbia, by storm as they entertained the masses with their energetic performances throughout the summer. 

Welcome New School Board Student Members Students from Ballard, Franklin, and Lincoln high schools take the oath of office for their seat on the Seattle School Board.   

Teachers Take Center Stage From becoming Amazon Teacher Ambassadors to earning paraeducator certifications, we are shouting out SPS staff who took their learning to a new level. 

National Role for Superintendent The Department of Homeland Security announced Dr. Brent Jones as a member of a new federal school safety advisory board.

Back to School Checklist We know there’s a lot of paperwork, but it’s important for families to submit the back-to-school packets. All families are especially encouraged to submit the forms for Student Data Verification, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and Student Meal Assistance.   

Keep Track of Student Meals SPS now has an easy way to view menus, pay for meals, and fill out the free and reduced lunch application. 

New Convenience Fee SPS will introduce a transaction fee for all student fee payments made through SchoolPay starting August 28. 

ITAC Membership Application SPS is seeking members for the Information Technology Advisory Committee. The application is open until Sept. 22.   

Voluntary Athletic Fees To help offset the growing cost of athletics, SPS is introducing a new voluntary fee for high school sports starting this school year. 

Parent Education Course Helps Support Student Learning All SPS families are invited to join Family Connectors University, a family-focused online course to help caregivers support their child’s growth. Session begins Sept. 24. 

Laptop Policy Updates Starting this year, only SPS-provided devices will be allowed for classroom learning. 

Stop Germs, Stay Healthy We encourage our community to take the following steps to limit the spread of respiratory illnesses.
