BOARD MEETING HIGHLIGHTS

ANCHORAGE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT

December 16, 2024

Thank you to Rosanna Gabriele and Wilson Greene for four years of service to the district as members of the Board of Education. Among the legacy they leave with our district are rising home values; healthy general and building funds; daily recess and biannual field trips for K-8 students; LETRS trained staff; high quality instructional resources for math, ELA and science; and a choice electives program for middle school students. Under their watch, the outdoor sports court was installed and the cafeteria and auditorium have been revitalized. Anchorage School was named a 2021 National Blue Ribbon School and the top elementary school and middle school in Kentucky by Niche.com for 2025 during their tenure on the board.

The board met on Monday and heard reports on City Council, APTA, personnel, conference participation, Kindergarten readiness, 2025-26 enrollment projections, curriculums and interventions, school council, facilities and financials. A first reading of the 2026-27 school calendar was conducted with plans to finalize at the January meeting. Superintendent Six presented progress toward her goals and website migration plans.

Upon second reading, the board adopted the 2025-26 school calendar with fall and spring breaks aligning with the JCPS calendar. The Comprehensive District & School Improvement Plans (CSIP/CDIP) were approved by the board. On consent, the board approved monthly expenditures, prior meeting minutes, personnel leave, WHAS Crusade for Children grant application, Kentucky Heritage Council Rehabilitation Tax Credit application for the auditorium renovation project, and ACT’s school-wide fundraiser request. The board gratefully accepted a donation secured by Superintendent Six for developing the innovation lab in 2025.

Accrued board member earnings from waived stipends were authorized to purchase six nameplates for auditorium chairs. Community members can purchase these donor nameplates as well using this link.
