News from Carol...January 2026
Can you believe it's 2026...a new year and a new start! I wanted to send a quick updated newsletter as schools are ramping up for second semester. Our next school board meeting is Monday,, January 26 at 4:15 pm at 75 Calhoun as long as the weather doesn't prevent us from meeting.
This school year, the district’s theme—IGNITE-- lived up to its name. From the opening professional development sessions to ongoing school-based initiatives, educators across Charleston County are working with renewed energy and purpose.
Progress in Charleston County School District doesn’t come from one program or one person, it comes from ALL of us! Every teacher who goes a little further, every student who tries again, every partner who steps in, together creates a difference. With a one degree of extra effort in classrooms, cafeterias, buses, and boardrooms is what turns momentum into movement and movement into change. Inspiring words from the 2025 State of the Schools address.

Looking Ahead
I’m excited to announce that I am running for re-election as Charleston County School District Trustee for District 9. While our district has made important progress, there is still more work to do to ensure excellence and opportunity for EVERY student. In November 2026, I will be on the ballot to continue advocating for equity, strong governance, and high-quality public schools. I look forward to continuing this work---together. Please support my work as your representative on the school board. Together we can have the schools our children deserve!
