Protected, Prohibited Political Activities

With local, statewide and national elections approaching in the coming months, the Long Beach Unified School District has updated its advisory for employees regarding your protected rights to participate in the political process, and our obligations to ensure that public funds are not used for political purposes.

Summer Jobs for Classified Workers

The Personnel Commission is accepting applications for 10-month employees interested in working for Summer School, as well as the School Enrichment and Learning (SEAL) Program for 2022. To qualify for summer employment, the applicant must be a permanent/probationary classified employee working on less than a 12-month calendar. The dates of the programs are June 27 to July 22 for elementary, middle and K-8 schools. High school dates are June 27 to July 29. Instructions on accessing the online application are available under Personnel Commission in the A-Z index at lbschools.net (then select Summer Employment). The deadline to apply is 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 18.
Certificated Retirement, Resignation or Leave of Absence Requests

Certificated employees planning to resign, retire or request a leave of absence for the 2022-23 school year should complete the appropriate form as soon as possible. It is appreciated and helpful for staffing when these items are submitted prior to Tuesday, March 1. Resignations and requests for full year leaves of absence received after Thursday, June 30 will not be approved unless the District is able to hire a suitable replacement.
