Retro Checks for Classified Employees

The Board of Education this week approved the tentative agreement that had recently been reached with the California School Employees Association, Long Beach Chapter 2. The Board’s decision was the final step in approving the contract, which includes a 9% salary increase for 2022-23 retroactive to July 1, 2022, plus a one-time “off-schedule” 3% payment based on total earnings for the 2022-23 fiscal year. These salary increases mirror the increases recently approved by the school board for teachers, and for management and non-represented employees.

Qualifying classified employees will receive 9% retroactive checks by June 7, with the ongoing 9% raise reflected on subsequent paychecks by June 30, and the 3% one-time payment to be distributed in September.

Employee Assistance Service for Education (EASE)

As a reminder, EASE provides confidential counseling, phone consultations and community referrals for LBUSD employees.

EASE counselors specialize in:

  • Family troubles
  • Emotional distress
  • Drug/alcohol problems
  • Job anxieties and stress
  • Grief, loss and transitions

EASE is primarily an assessment and brief counseling service and is best defined as a pre-treatment service. The emphasis is on early identification of problems affecting work performance, consultation with managers, labor representatives, employees and proactive intervention. EASE is not a substitute for a district’s health-care plan. It is, however, a beneficial and effective extension of the provider plan.

WeightWatchers (WW)

Get inspired by Dana R.’s journey

“I joined WeightWatchers (WW) through my employer after receiving an unexpected type 2 diabetes diagnosis. I’ve completely changed my lifestyle. I used to have an all-or-nothing mindset, but I’ve learned to adjust that thinking. I can still have chocolate, ice cream and even pasta – I deserve good food and healthy things.”

"Now I feel like I have a long life ahead of me. I have more energy and my daily blood sugar readings have been in a healthy range for over a year. I’m never giving up on myself or my health again!”
