Dear Members of the Lamplighter Community,

I hope that you and your families are staying safe and well. Our Distance Learning program is now underway and we have already heard many success stories from our families. Please do continue to share feedback with our Assistant Heads for Teaching and Learning, Vicki Raney (Lower School) and Judith Mullens (Early Childhood) as you navigate this new learning format with your student(s).

I continue to remain in close contact with area Heads of School to share insights and plans to address the most up-to-date information on COVID-19 and the impact on our school communities. The area Heads of School met today, and as a result of this meeting, The Lamplighter School will extend the school closure by one additional week, through Friday, April 10. At this time, we are hopeful that the campus will reopen on Monday, April 13, following the Easter and Passover holidays.

For the most up-to-date information on school events, please visit the COVID-19 Updates web page on the Lamplighter website. This page contains helpful resources for parents as well as information regarding school events during the campus closure.

In order to help our community during this unique time, Jill Schroeter, M.Ed., LPC-S, RPT-S, Office of Student Life, has arranged a webinar tomorrow evening, exclusively for Lamplighter families, titled Developing Emotional Endurance During Trying Times . Please join us for this special webinar on Thursday, March 26 at 7:30 p.m. as we navigate through this challenging time. Dr. Kristen Ohlenforst, a licensed psychologist specializing in individual and family-based interventions, will share strategies for managing parental and child anxiety during this time of uncertainty. After sharing strategies for maintaining perspective, managing stress, and practicing self-care, she will field questions from parents and aim to share helpful resources. Please see below for details. We hope to "see" you there.

Through this trying time, I am constantly reminded of the strength of our Lamplighter community. I am grateful for your ongoing support as we continue to live out our School's mission, engaging children in the joy of learning, in a new and unique way.

Joan Buchanan Hill, Ed.D.
