School Closure Update
Dear EBI Community,

I want to begin by sincerely thanking you for all that you are doing at home each day to support your students, our teachers, and all members of the EBI community. By working together, we are continuing to successfully move forward.

Today, we learned that Public Health Officers from Alameda County and the Alameda County Office of Education, in joint collaboration with school district leaders from five other Bay Area counties , plan to remain closed through May 1, 2020. After careful review and consideration, we have decided to follow the direction of our public health officials and public school districts, and we will also remain closed until at least May 1.

Although this is certainly unsettling, but not unexpected news, I hope you know that our decisions are always made to protect the health and safety of our students and community members. Please know that even though the situation continues to change rapidly, it is our most sincere hope that we will return to our normal, in-classroom learning on campus in early May. In the meantime, I want to reassure you that we have been preparing for the possibility of an extended closure, and that we will continue providing our Distance Learning Plan (DLP) and supporting you throughout this process. In the coming days, we will send a communication detailing opportunities to do virtual coffees and drop-ins via Zoom, updates on enhancements and accommodations to facilitate a stronger remote learning experience, additional support for our community members, and other planning preparations. As you may recall from my last video communication , Mr. Ollivander will also have something special to share with our students.

I remain deeply grateful to our teachers and staff for their unwavering dedication to ensuring a great learning experience for our students. I also want to thank each and every one of you for your continued support, messages of encouragement, and patience throughout this very difficult process.

We dearly miss having our students, teachers, staff, families, and all of our community members together. As we continue to navigate these days of uncertainty, know that we remain deeply rooted in our mission and connected by the great care, resilience, fortitude, and empathy that distinguishes our community.

Thank you very much for your continued partnership and trust.

Con gran aprecio y afecto,

Dr. Paola V. Clark, Ed.D.
