Under its compulsory attendance provisions, the South Carolina Code of Laws requires school districts to monitor the appropriate education of home-schooled students. This education can take one of three options depending on the choice made by the parent.

The South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) announces the Request for Proposals (RFP) for the 2023 Summer Reading Camp (SRC) Community Partnership Grant (CPG) under Proviso 1.56 of the General Appropriations Act is now available online. Approximately $700,000 in funding will be distributed on a competitive basis. The deadline to apply is 5:00 p.m., February 16, 2023.

21st Century Community Learning Centers Subgrant Opportunity

The South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) announces that the 2023–24 Request for Proposals for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) subgrant program is now available online. Three to five million dollars in funding will be distributed on a competitive basis and the deadline to apply is March 6, 2023.

The Office of Educator Effectiveness and Leadership Development is pleased to announce dates for instructional leadership development cohorts beginning in winter 2023. Our mission is to increase access to highly-effective teaching and leadership for every student in South Carolina. Participants in our cohorts build their leadership capacity in three focus areas closely related to the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate: personalization, collective leadership, and equitable access to effective instruction.
