Dear New Rochelle Community,
By Friday, February 18, 2022, every City School District of New Rochelle student and employee will be provided with an “iHealth COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test” so they will have the resources to self-monitor their health during the upcoming Mid-Winter Recess. It is especially intended for all students and employees to utilize at least one test on Sunday, February 27, before we return to school on Monday.
Individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 on or after November 28, 2021 are asked not to take the Antigen Rapid Test.
Each Antigen Rapid Test box contains two tests. Individuals with negative test results will be allowed to enter schools/buildings on Monday, February 28, if they are asymptomatic. All positive test results for students must be immediately reported to their School Nurse’s office. The student may not enter the school environment until notified by the School Nurse. All positive test results for employees must immediately be reported to the Tracking Nurse and the employee may not enter the school or office environment until notified by the Tracking Nurse’s office.
As a reminder, the mask mandate in New York State Public Schools has been indefinitely extended and does not expire on February 21, 2022. Governor Kathy Hochul said state officials will revisit the school mask mandate in early March, after students return from break and officials have an opportunity to assess case numbers in schools.
Finally, please be reminded that, according to current federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regulations, current City School District of New Rochelle protocols, and New York State Department of Health recommendations, persons returning from international travel who are:
Unvaccinated:
Are subject to an automatic 7-10 day quarantine. (PCR test on day 3-5 after returning to the U.S. PLUS, even if you test negative, stay home and self-quarantine for the full 7 days; If you don’t get tested, stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travel)
Vaccinated:
Get tested with a viral test 3-5 days after travel. Self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms; isolate and get tested if you develop symptoms.
Have a safe and healthy break next week, and we look forward to seeing everyone when school is back in session.
Sincerely,
