Letter from Principal Young
|
Dear OLOL Families,
As we countdown the days and finish the tasks in anticipation of Spring break, I hope that you all get a chance to spend a little time as a family over spring break. An important part of OLOL achieving the high academic successes that we have is having strong family relationships. Those relationships are created when families invest time with each other. Please carve out some family time next week.
When we get back from break, we have some opportunities for families to earn TSF hours. The Lenten Dinner is Friday, April 1st from 4:30 - 7:00PM. We need plenty of volunteers to make this happen. If you need to earn TSF hours please sign up HERE. Please prayerfully consider signing up for a slot or two. Community is an important component of the education journey. Please join our wonderful learning community by volunteering
You can also help with the Lenten dinner by making a donation to the School Carnival which takes place in the school gymnasium the night of the event. We are looking for any of the following: small toys or prizes, bags of individualized candy, and 2 liters bottles of soda. If students bring in 5 of any of the above, they will receive a NUT card.
The annual OLOL Trivia Night is back on April 22nd from 6:30 - 10:00PM. This is another opportunity for you to earn your TSF hours. It is also a fun event for all that attend. More information will be forthcoming but please put it on your calendar and start getting your table together. We would love to see you there.
Fr. Jim’s Lourdes 200 Task Force is coming along with sub-committee work. This is definitely an exciting time to be part of OLOL Catholic School. Enrollment for next year is very strong. We are opening another section of 4 year-old preschool; our re-enrollment is at 97% percent which is very strong. I think enrollment of 200 for next year is within our reach. You can help us out by talking to friends and relatives about joining our school. There is also an OLOL Referral Incentive for you as well. When you get a family to enroll, you will receive a $250 tuition credit for the 2022-2023 school year. Please help spread the word about the exciting things happening at OLOL. Our students are prepared for success at high school and Iife. I want to see more students in our school so we have more young people prepared for success.

Dear OLOL Families,
As we begin the final trimester of the 2021-2022 school year, preparations have also begun for the 2022-2023 school year. We are sad to announce that Mrs. Wagnitz will be retiring at the completion of the school year. Mrs. Wagnitz has worked 20 years in various roles at OLOL. Seventeen of those were spent teaching middle school religion. Mrs. Wagnitz said she had the best job in the world working with middle school students and discussing religion. She will miss working with the talented staff, families, and students from over the years.
The biggest compliment that I can give her is told by the students that she has impacted. Many, many graduates have told me that Notre Dame Academy religion teachers tell them that they know the OLOL students the first day they enter an NDA classroom. They are respectful and know their religion. One graduate told me that they think they should have a separate freshman religion class for OLOL students because of their knowledge base. Please congratulate Mrs. Wagnitz for all of her service to the young people in our community and we wish her well on her next life journey.

Wisconsin Tax Deduction for Tuition Expense
Tax legislation signed into law gives Wisconsin taxpayers the opportunity to deduct private school tuition expenses from their taxable income. A subtraction from income is allowed for tuition expenses that are paid for any of the GRACE schools. Parents/guardians are eligible for a maximum deduction of $4,000 per child in grades K-8 and $10,000 per child in grades 9-12. Students transitioning from eighth to ninth grade are eligible for both deductions. Per state guidance, any amount spent on tuition and book fees are eligible for the deduction. Book fees include digital books, such as laptops or tablet fees issued by the school.
Tuition tax credit information is available to GRACE families online via GRACE’s enrollment management system, TADS. The TADS Household Paid Tuition Tax Report will provide a breakdown of payments made for the specified household’s tuition account during the tax year.
When gathering information for tax preparation, GRACE families are to access their TADS account | select Billing | Billing Account Number | Reports | Household Paid Tuition Tax Report | enter the tax year (i.e. 2021) and submit. If you have questions or require assistance, please call TADS Family Support at (800) 477-8237.
Additional information regarding Tax Deduction is available https://gracesystem.org/admissions/tuition-assistance/

Enrollment: Parish Verification Form
Enrollment for 2022-23 is off to a very brisk pace, and we are pleased many of you have re-enrolled. We have already created waitlists for a few grades at some of our schools.
As reviewed in my January letter to you, new to the enrollment process for students in grades K through 10 this year is the Parish Verification Form.
This new process supports the meaningful relationship between our families and our GRACE parishes in harmony with our mission of growing in our Catholic faith. This process also recognizes our GRACE parishes who significantly support our schools through their financial investments.
- Families enroll K-10 students with the Standard Rate of tuition in our TADS.com enrollment management system.
- After enrollment, families are to complete - with their GRACE parish - the Parish Verification Form. Upon receipt of verification, the family’s TADS Billing Account will be adjusted to the Active Parishioner Rate (lower rate).
- Your parish office will help guide you through the process of obtaining their verification. Our parishes define what ‘active parishioner’ means in each parish.
-
The Parish Verification Form and instructions are provided during the online enrollment process in TADS. Information is also available at gracesystem.org | Admissions | Parish Verification Form.
-
Please submit your completed Form which includes verification by your parish representative to GRACE Riverside Office by June 1, 2022. Tuition payments for 2022-23 begin in July annually. Submission instructions are on the Form.
- Completed verification forms will be processed in batches at regular intervals. Each family will receive an email when their Form is processed and their TADS Billing Account is adjusted.
Please be sure you enroll your K-10 students fully and then complete the Parish Verification Form with your parish.
If you have not already re-enrolled, we encourage you to do so to ensure your child’s seat for fall 2022 and to take advantage of the lower enrollment fee (now $100 until March 1st). Early re-enrollment also allows us to plan resources including staffing for next school year; preparations are already underway!
God bless!

Fang Reading Club -- Reading to Home Plate!
Students in Kindergarten through fifth grade can once again have fun playing “baseball” by reading through the bases. After they read 200 minutes at home, within a two week period, they will slide onto a “base.” That’s only 20 minutes a day! Every two weeks they can read their way onto the next base by reading 200 more minutes. Then, hopefully they will make a “homerun” on March 11th.
Students who make it to home plate are rewarded with a free hot dog and drink, and a ticket to the OLOL Family Night game with the Timber Rattlers on Friday, May 6, 2022.
We hope all students in grades K-5 will “step up to the plate” and join in the fun! Look for more information on Fang Reading Club sheets below. If you have any questions, please contact your teacher or Ms. J. Johnson.
“Swing batter, batter, swing” … into reading with Fang and the Timber Rattlers!
