Letter from Principal Young

Dear OLOL Families,

I can’t believe that I am writing the last Lourdes Letter article for the year. It seemed like it was just yesterday that we were getting our pictures taken, meeting the teacher, and getting ready to kick off the 2022-2023 school year.

I have quite a bit of thank yous to pass along as it takes so many individuals on creating a successful school year.

The biggest thanks goes to each of every one of our OLOL parents. You are the reason that OLOL Catholic school is here. You entrust us with your children each and every day to educate them both academically and spiritually. This is a great responsibility and one that I do not take lightly. Thank you for sharing your children with us.

Mrs. Hendricks, in the office, does so many things that aren’t in her job description. Not only does she wear many hats, she does everything with a great attitude.  Each student, staff member, and family are so blessed that Mrs. Hendricks said yes to OLOL. Thank you Mrs. Hendricks.

I would also like to thank the OLOL Catholic School staff. I get to work with some amazing teachers each and every day. The amount of talent that we have at OLOL would match any school in the area. They are a pleasure to work with and I know they bring out the best in me. Thank you staff!

The OLOL Parish assists us in so many ways and are our number one financial backer. We are able to have the success that we have because of what they do for us. Thank you OLOL Parish.

Fr. Jim is a blessing to our school. He speaks so highly of the school, the staff, and families.  The future of OLOL Catholic School is very bright due to the support that Fr. Jim gives us. Thank you so much Fr. Jim!

This concludes my 10th year of humbly serving as principal at OLOL. I have been blessed these 10 years more than I deserve. The students, families, and staff have helped me grow professionally and personally. Each day when I am walking into the building I think of how lucky I am to serve our families, staff and parish. The people that I have met and interacted with these past 10 years will remain in my heart for years to come.

This past Memorial Day week-end I ran into some past OLOL School parents. Their children are working in their professions, attending college or high school. They each said what an impact OLOL had with their children. What I liked best was they didn’t highlight the academics. They instead focused on what type of people their children have grown into. They said how respectful they are and how important it is that they conduct themselves how Christ lived his life.  They always know when they see an OLOL alumnus because of how they carry themselves. This is extremely important to me because this is a big part of an OLOL education.

Academics and athletic success is great and I am proud of how we prepare our students in these areas. How we interact with each other and care for others is what makes a good life great. We should value each relationship and know the importance of what those relationships mean to our relationship with Christ. Hearing from these parents this week-end made me extremely proud that OLOL Catholic School is carrying out our mission of creating Christians that keep our focus on what is important.

I will be sending updates over the summer when it is necessary. The biggest updates will be about class sizes. We are extremely close in three grades splitting into two classes. The back-to-school packet will be sent out around August 1st.

*REVISED* Dress Code for 2023-2024

Earlier this year a committee consisting of parents, teachers, and administration met to review the OLOL dress code. We have three goals of the OLOL dress code:

  • A dress code, where all dress alike, brings unity and equality while removing judgment of social or economic background.
  • Being neat, clean, and organized in appearance is a sign of a neat, clean organized mind that is ready to learn.
  • As Christians, we are called to a sense of modesty for ourselves and others. Modesty is the act of respectfully revealing ourselves to the world in body, mind and spirit. At OLOL, a modest dress code is a sign of unity with the school, parish, and Jesus.

You will notice that the format of the dress code has changed. The new format is hopefully easier to navigate. Mid-to-late summer is the time when you might start back-to-school shopping. Please take a moment to review the dress code before shopping. I’m happy to answer any questions that you may have.

Welcome to Our Lady of Lourdes School

Hello families of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School!

My name is Raven Behringer and I am the new 2nd grade teacher starting this coming fall. I could not be more grateful and excited to start teaching in such a well rounded and faith filled community!

I received my degree in Elementary Education along with my Masters of Education from the University of Minnesota. I also did my student teaching in a 1st grade classroom in Minneapolis, MN and I have been teaching at Brooklyn Center Elementary for the last 2 years.

I have enjoyed my time in Minnesota, but I am a Wisconsin native, Go Pack Go, and will be moving back to the area to be closer to my fiancé, my family, and to my new job at your school! I look forward to meeting you and helping your students grow academically, socio-emotionally, and most importantly spiritually!

God bless you all!

Hello Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School!

My name is Kaycee Gierczak and I am joining the elementary team this fall.

I recently graduated From St. Norbert College with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. I also played on the St. Norbert Women's Basketball team.

I'm an Alumni of the GRACE System and Notre Dame Academy.

I enjoy spending time with my family and I love to hike.

I am so excited to be a part of this community because I love the focus it has on God and family.
