Letter from Principal Young

Dear OLOL Families,

We are 2 weeks out from our largest fundraiser, The Night of Keys. See the Signup Genius in the Opportunities and Submissions section above to volunteer. We are still looking for some volunteers to work the night of the event for raffles and to monitor the silent auction items. If you haven’t signed up for anything yet, please do so as TWO hours of your TSF requirement needs to be fulfilled during the Night of Keys.

One of the most important tasks that you can do to make this event successful is to sell the Key Raffle tickets. We sent home 2 tickets with each student a couple weeks ago. Please try to sell those to your friends, neighbors, or co-workers. We will have a successful evening if all 400 are sold. We have more in the school office, if needed.

Finally, please join us at the National Railroad Museum on Saturday, November 13. We try to make our fundraiser a fun event so it doesn’t feel like work. I look forward to spending the evening with you while raising funds for our students. I hope to see you there.

Does your family like to decorate Christmas Trees? If you do, then we have an opportunity for you. OLOL is sponsoring a Christmas Tree at the National Railroad Museum Festival of Trees. We have everything you need to decorate. The set-up time is Wednesday,

November 10 at 3:00PM. If you are interested in helping us, please contact Mr. Young.

Listed below you will find information about the Green Bay Chamber of Commerce Golden Apple program. Please take the time to nominate an OLOL teacher. This is a beautiful way that you can recognize the wonderful staff we have at OLOL. The deadline is Friday, October 29 so please carve out some time today or tomorrow.

Thank you to all the parents that brought in items for our staff dinner during conferences last night. The staff thanks you for your generosity.

I have an exciting announcement next week in regards to OLOL being a recipient of a grant.

Last week's winners were:

Gavin in 1st grade

Aseda in 2nd grade

Mayowa and Drew in 3rd grade

Grace in 4th grade

Congratulations to the winners and thank you to all students who are learning how to be self-disciplined.

Harvesting Faith Family Night

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Harvesting Faith Family Night.

A great event for the children and their families.

Thank you for your donations for our Blessing Bags! The elementary students will be preparing the bags for children and adults who are receiving chemo treatments in Brown County.

Computer Science for All

What does the inside of a computer look like?

Mrs. Fink shows students the inside of a computer and a hard drive.

Did you know that hard drives come in many sizes?

What is a hard drive?

These are just some of the things students are learning during their computer science classes.

The kindergarten students have been learning how to master the use of the mouse.

It is also an opportunity for eye/hand coordination.

A mouse is one of many ways to INPUT information into a device - in this case a desktop computer in the lab.

Using KidPix software the students created a drawing using the mouse. Good job!

Google Drive: File Management

At home, we have our children pickup their toys and help clean their room.

At school, we help the students stay organized by providing them an opportunity to clean their desks/lockers in addition to their folders and binders.

These same skills are needed with our electronic files and folders. For our younger students they are learning how to do this, while our older students reviewed their folders/files and organized for the year ahead.
