Letter from Principal Young

Dear OLOL Families,

Parent/Teacher Conferences are Tuesday and Thursday of next week. If you haven’t done so, please sign up. Here are the instructions to sign-up LINK. We look forward to meeting and partnering with you on your child’s educational journey.

The pick-up for magazine/cookie dough sale will be Tuesday, October 26. The pick-up location will be under the canopy in front of the church during middle and elementary dismissal times. If you are unable to come at that time and are coming for face-to-face conferences that evening, please contact Mrs. Hendricks at lhendricks@gracesystem.org. We will have it ready for you at that time.

Fall MAPS reports are being sent home today with your child. Each student is being given their own report so if you have multiple children at school, each will have an envelope for you.  Please take a moment this week to review them. Teachers are able to answer any questions that you may have.

Thank you for all that reached out to me and asked to be on the OLOL Catholic School forum with Fr. Jim. I was overwhelmed by the number of people wanting to participate. I am so looking forward to these meetings as I firmly believe much good fruit will come from this endeavor. Please pray for us as we move forward.

An OLOL team is participating in a CatholicLink Leadership Academy. Two teachers and myself are learning in-depth how to become leaders in our buildings. We are creating a school plan for marketing, vision statement, and educational excellence. We are going to expand what we are already doing. This year-long program connects very well into Fr. Jim’s vision for OLOL Catholic School. This is a wonderful time to be the principal for OLOL.

“Love is what we are born with. Fear is what we learn. The spiritual journey is the unlearning of fear and prejudices and the acceptances of love back into our hearts” - Marian Williamson

Congratulations to the winners and thank you to all students who are learning how to be self-disciplined.

The Gift of Your Time and

a Good Book

We are very excited to be able to have guests in our building this year.

Thank you Mr. Mueller for taking the time to read a book to our students about pumpkins.

Did you know that by taking the time to read to children, it generates creativity, sparks curiosity and stimulates the imagination in young children?

Computer Science for All

Our school received new tablets with keyboards to use during MAPS testing from GRACE. These tablets were purchased for the second graders in each of the GRACE Schools.

The tablets have a Chrome operating system with keyboard.

Each student's GRACE Google account was sync'd with Clever and students are able to logon with QR codes.

We look forward to learning about how the second graders will be using these technology tools in their classroom.

The 2nd graders compared old technology to new technology this week.

What we learned - typewriters are HEAVY! Our tablets are not!

Typewriters are SLOW (and not touch screen). Our tablets are fast and have touch screen.

We like our tablets more, although the bell when the typewriter reaches the end of the page is fun!
