Letter from Principal Young

Dear OLOL Families,

Thanks to all OLOL families that attended the Food Truck Rally on Saturday.  Hopefully you found some food that excited your taste buds.  We appreciate the support that you give OLOL Catholic School and Parish.

We are about fifty percent done with MAPS testing.  Thank you for limiting appointments during these past 2 weeks.    We appreciate it.  MAPS testing helps us to  guide instruction, steer curriculum, and assist us to individualize instruction.   You will receive a MAPS report of your child's results prior to fall parent-teacher conferences.  The conferences are October 25th and 27th.

OLOL would love for our parents to attend “Coffee with the President” on Tuesday September 27th.  Mrs. Kim Desotell, GRACE President, will be at OLOL from 8:00 - Noon in the social hall.  Mrs. Desotell wants to hear from you and receive feedback on OLOL Catholic School.  This is a wonderful opportunity for your voice to be heard, both positive and negative.   It's an open house style meeting so you can come when it fits your schedule.  We hope you are able to make it sometime between 8:00AM - Noon.

Students do not report to school this coming Friday.  The OLOL staff will be meeting with other GRACE teachers from the grade level or their content team at the middle school level.   These meetings are great for teachers as they can share with colleagues teaching strategies, things they are doing in the classroom, and sharing best practices.  We appreciate your flexibility so our teachers can be current with trends that help bring out the best in our students.

OLOL is excited to announce that Heidi Mirao will be joining our staff as an interventionist.  Mrs. Mirao will be here on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday assisting students on an individual basis.  This role is new to us and what I am excited about is that it assists us by creating learning targets for individual students.   What I love about OLOL is that we are able to create these individual learning plans which help students reach their fullest potential.

Night of Keys - Our 'Key' Fundraiser!

The 2022 OLOL Night of Keys event is Saturday, November 5th at The Automobile Gallery. The event features dinner, silent and live auctions, bucket and 50/50 raffles, and our marquee event - the Key Raffle drawing - for a chance to win $10,000, $3,000 or $1,000! More information will be sent home with your youngest child.

The Night of Keys is the largest and most significant fundraiser for our school,

and we need your support to make it a success.

Your TSF volunteer hours can be

fulfilled by helping with the following:

● Assisting with Key Raffle ticket phone sales (we will provide you with a script and

call list).

● Selling Key Raffle tickets after designated weekend Masses.

● Contacting businesses for donations (we will provide the materials, script and an

established list of businesses).

● Volunteering the day of the event with set-up, clean-up, and/or filling volunteer

roles the night of the event.

● Other opportunities are available such as assisting with the silent auction

(packaging items before the event) and selling advertising space in the event

program.

Refer to the list of contacts below to join the team!  Please reach out via email at olol.nok@gmail.com to connect with the contacts below for your area of interest:

● Co-chair & Auction Lead: Sarah Lawler

● Co-chair & Administration Lead: Nicci Zwiefelhofer

● Solicitations Lead: Christina Spierings

● Volunteer Coordinators: Heather Willems & Leslie Ward

We look forward to sharing a casual evening of adult fellowship and fun for a great

cause!

Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family

All Are Welcome!

Please join us for weekend mass.

  • Saturday: 4:30PM

If you were unable to join us for school or weekend masses, they are available on our parish YouTube channel. Watch it here.

Are You a Parent of Littles?

Children of God

The Children of God program for children ages 4 to 6 is held during the 8:15 Mass on

the first and third Sundays of each month. Shortly after Mass starts, children will be

dismissed to the Chapel to learn about the liturgy through story-telling, discussion, and

play. The lesson will be based on the readings of the week. Just before the

presentation of the gifts, children will be escorted back to participate in the rest of the

Mass with their families. Please consider having your child(ren) participate in this

educational and fun program!

Young Families Ministry

Whether you have infants, toddlers, preschoolers, or young ones, it can be difficult to

catch all of the important readings and messages that are delivered during mass. We

get it! OLOL’s Young Families Ministry is a group of families that casually meets on the

1 st and 3 rd Sundays of the month from 9:30-10:00 (so families can choose to attend mass

before or after we meet). We review and discuss the weekend’s scripture readings

and are also able to socialize and talk about parenting topics in our casual and fun

atmosphere.

What makes it even better is that child care is provided! Traci LaCrosse and her

wonderful group of teens are available each session to entertain and watch our littles.

This means adults have adult time to discuss and socialize while our kiddos have their

own social reward after church!

We look forward to welcoming familiar and new families to our gatherings which

start Sunday, September 18 th in the Parish Hall. We are also hosting a special meet and

greet to welcome new families on Sunday, October 2 nd which will be held outside on the

playground (weather permitting; inside if necessary). Join us!
