What is a thaumatrope? 6th graders learned that a thaumatrope  is an optical toy that was popular in the 19th century and were tasked with making one of their own. They first had to write a research paper, create a model on their computer, and then make their thaumatrope. This project ends their unit on light.
Our Extended Care students enjoying their day. Ned Hesser, Director of Youth Ministry, joined them with a song and guitar playing.
7th & 8th grade STEM students collaborating with Penn State Berks engineering students on Tinkercad, which is a program for a 3D printer.
6th grader students in science lab investigating color as they learn more about light.
Mrs. Berry's 8th grade science lab making cookies - Science Cookies!
Take a look at the recipe - the students had to decipher the recipe
based off of science terms they learned. Yum!
Archeologist Jason Shellenhammer shared his knowledge
(and cool artifacts) with our 4th and 8th graders.
"You sunk my battleship!" 8th grade science students playing
Periodic Table of Elements Battleship.
The Franklin Institute Traveling Science Show visited our school. The kids learned about hail, lightning, twisters. This show revealed the science of weather and the students learned about where our weather comes from. They also got to see how a cloud is made, explore thunder and lightning, and even create snow.
6th graders continue their unit on light by studying the stained glass windows at the church. The students must draw a section of a window and then write a paragraph
using vocab words they learned in the unit to explain the light in the window.
A few of the vocab words are: opaque, transmission, translucent, and transparent.
The students must also explain what the image of the particular stain glass window means from a Biblical standpoint.
Student Council dishing out ice cream to the winning class
who raised the money for the snowman they made.
Extended care students in kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade participated in a fun STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) by creating an ARTBOT.
