Dear families,
I hope everyone had a restful Thanksgiving and enjoyed time with family and friends! We are so grateful to all the families that donated pies to our faculty and staff. This is one of the beautiful traditions highlighting our strong sense of community.
Advent is among us and we are eagerly anticipating the birth of Jesus! Our students will be participating in various activities and preparing their hearts to receive our Savior. Living out our faith is a cornerstone of our mission and vision at Saint Leo.
Next Monday is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and we will be celebrating this Mass at 1:30 pm. Our 6th grade class will be leading the gift giving campaign and honoring our Mother by receiving donated toys for those less fortunate. Please consider donating an unwrapped gift for a young girl or boy in need. We would love to have you attend this beautiful Mass and witness our students' service in action! All are welcome!
This week began our Second Trimester. We continue to strive for academic excellence in all that we do. Report cards will be sent home through the mail. Please reach out to the front office if you do not receive a report card by next Friday or if your address has changed.
I would encourage you to praise your students’ successes and discuss the areas of growth and improvement. We know that our students and teachers are working hard for every student’s academic success. Please know that you can contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions regarding their academic progress or social-emotional development.
As we begin the second trimester, I would like to emphasize the importance of attendance. If your child has missed 6 or more days of school during the first trimester, they have already missed 10% or more days of school. Each day your child comes to school, they are learning, socializing, connecting with their teachers and peers, and developing new skills. Please make every effort to ensure your students are present and on time at school unless they have a contagious illness. Please read this important attendance letter, which provides facts and suggestions if regular attendance is a challenge for your family.
We have a lot of fun extracurricular activities happening this month in the classrooms -from St. Nicholas’ visit tomorrow, gingerbread house decorating, and our Advent Spirit Week hosted by the SCA.
Please be sure to check the calendar on our website at www.saintleothegreatschool.org for more information. Thank you for your continued partnership and support and I wish you a blessed week!
God bless,
Cindi K. Harkes
