Family Sunday Readings
Seventh Sunday of Easter
They were all gathered in the upper room, waiting.
- Today’s first reading refers to a time when the early Christians were “in-between” their experience of Jesus’ presence with them and their experience of the promised Holy Spirit.
- The Apostles, Mary, and other believers return to Jerusalem after the death of Jesus.
- They are strengthened as a community through support of one another and prayer.
If you suffer for something, let it be for Christ.
- In the second reading, Christians living in the time “between” Pentecost and the second coming of Jesus at the end of time are reminded that their conduct should promote unity and harmony rather than destroy it.
- At the time this letter was written, the Christian community was finding it hard to endure persecution.
- Peter warns them that following Christ might result in hardships, but that any suffering in God’s name will lead to future glory.
Jesus prays to his Father.
- Today’s Gospel is part of Jesus’ Last Supper discourse. Jesus’ address is not to the disciples but to the Father.
- In today’s passage, Jesus prays for himself, for the disciples and for all future believers, as he approaches his death.
- For the disciples, still in this world, Jesus prays that they will be united in a unity on earth as close as the unity between him and the Father.

A Beautiful Day for a May Crowning!
On Mother's Day, Bishop Haines, Fr. Kitzke, and First Communicants honored our Blessed Mother at the Archdiocesan Marian Shrine in Milwaukee.
The afternoon included an Eucharistic rosary procession and a crowning of the statue of Our Lady. Each First Communicant received a blessed rosary. A wonderful experience for all.

May Crowning 5/15/26 1:15
All families are invited to attend this year’s May Crowning, which will take place on Friday, May 15, at 1:15 p.m. in the Church with a reception and refreshments to follow in the Church Hall. All are welcome. The May Crowning is a traditional Catholic ceremony in which a crown of flowers is placed on the head of a statue of Mary, symbolizing her queenship and the Church’s honor for her as the Mother of God. It is one of the most tender expressions of Marian devotion.

Justification of Graduation (JOG)
This year our 8th grade students continued the St. John’s Justification of Graduation (JOG) tradition on May 11th and 12th. Our 8th grade students prepared a 20 minute presentation to share with their parents, mentors, and members of the parish and school community about their experience at SJE and how these experiences have prepared them for the challenges of high school. Each soon to be graduate shared how he or she has grown in faith and academics. The presentations were excellent. Great job 8th graders!
