Family Sunday Readings

Easter Sunday

Reading I : Acts 10:34a, 37-43

They were witnesses to all that Jesus said and did.

  • Peter announces to the Gentile household of Cornelius, that all who believe are forgiven of their sins.
  • Today’s passage highlights the expansion of the Church.
  • The disciples spread the good news to the far ends of the earth.

Reading II : Colossians 3:1-4

Seek to be like Christ.

  • Paul calls for a new way of life in today's second reading.
  • In Baptism we have "passed over" from death to life.
  • Those who participate in Christ’s death and Resurrection through the sacrament of Baptism are on a journey of faith.

Gospel : John 20:1-9

Jesus is raised from the dead.

  • In John's Gospel, Mary Magdalene is first to arrive at the tomb early on the morning after Jesus rose.
  • The second and third visitors come to the tomb because of Mary's incredible story.
  • Before Jesus appeared to anyone, Mary visited his tomb and was the first to announce the events of the resurrection.

A Message from Mr. Oberdorf

An Easter Prayer

Lord, help us to live in the gladness and grace of Easter Sunday, every day. Let us have hearts of thankfulness for your sacrifice. Let us have eyes that look upon your grace and rejoice in our salvation. Help us to walk in that mighty grace and tell your good news to the world. Amen.

Have a Happy Easter!

JOG Presentations May 7th and 9th

This year our 8th grade students will continue the St. John’s Justification of Graduation (JOG) tradition on May 7th and 9th. Our 8th grade students will present to their parents, mentors, and members of the parish and school community how SJE has prepared him or her for the future.

Would you be interested in being a part of the viewing panel? As a member of the panel, your job is to sit back and listen to the accomplishments of an 8th grade student in the areas of Catholic faith, academics, service, extra-curricular activities and their future plans and then offer positive feedback.

Please consider being a part of this event. Each powerpoint presentation should last approximately 20 minutes. We would like you to consider listening to 2-3 students’ presentations. Two presentations will take about one hour.

Presentations are scheduled for:

May 7, 2025 12:30-2:30

May 9, 2025 8:30-11:00 and 12:00-2:30

If you are interested, please contact Mr. Oberdorf at 414-321-8540 or email boberdorf@sje.school by Wednesday, April 30 to let us know of your availability.

Attention parents who have already had a child graduate from SJE!

SJE wants to hear from your high school student! What's happening in high school? We would love to hear about the accomplishments of our SJE Alumni, whether it be academic achievements, athletics, performing arts, or anything else they would like to share with us. Whether it's that they scored the leading role in their school's spring musical, they made the honor roll, were recognized in a STEM fair, or set a new track record, etc.

We invite you to share the following link with your SJE Alum child, where they can submit their news to us. We would love to give them a shout out on our social media pages!
