Gospel Reading for Sunday, December 23rd, 2018

Fourth Sunday of Advent

Leap for Joy

Questions for Family Discussion:

  • Did you hear the familiar words in the Gospel today? “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.” Where do we know those words from?
  • Who was Elizabeth? Why was Mary so happy to see her?
  • How can we be “God bearers” during the Christmas season?

Please consider reading the upcoming Sunday gospel together as a family. The questions above are good conversation starters as you prepare your children for weekly mass.
A Note from the Principal:

Dear SJE Parents,

Tomorrow at the end of the school day our teachers and students will begin their much-anticipated Christmas break. Our children have spent a fruitful week working on a variety of different activities, including today’s Journey to Bethlehem PE activity, and some Christmas surprises for family and friends. We wish our families a peaceful Christmas holiday, safe travels, and plenty of time for family fun.

Upon our return to school in January, we will be working together to finalize our plans for Catholic Schools Week. Please mark your calendars (if you have not already done so) for our Open House and spaghetti dinner to be held on Saturday, January 26th. This is a wonderful time for families to visit their children’s classrooms and check out what we have been learning.

Christmas Blessings!

See you on January 3rd!

Growing in God’s Love,

Journey to Bethlehem
Thank You!
Our Home and School Association would like to extend an enormous thank you to all of our school families. Because of you, our 2 nd  annual cookie walk was an enormous success! We sold over $1,100 in cookies last weekend. (that’s almost 140 lbs of cookies!!) This very successful fundraiser would not be possible without the support of all of our families. We are so grateful to all of you!
Christmas Greetings and a Snack Cart Gift Certificate
This week's Thursday envelope contains a special gift from our specialists, Ms. Skalecki, Ms. Starks and Senorita Carlson. Each child is receiving a bright green card, with their name on it and may turn in the bottom of the card for a free snack from our Snack Cart beginning in January! This is a treat from those teachers, so please take good care of those cards!
