Baptism of the Lord

Reading I : Isaiah 42:1-4, 6-7

God upholds his servant, a light for all nations.

  • The first reading from Isaiah sings of God’s servant, being upheld by the Spirit.
  • God has formed us and we belong to God.
  • We are sent to heal and set free.

Reading II : Acts 10:34-38

Jesus is the savior of all nations.

  • Anyone called by God is acceptable to Christ.
  • Jesus was anointed by the Spirit.

Gospel : Luke 3:15-16, 21-22

Jesus is baptized.

  • The heavens were opened and God spoke.
  • Jesus invited John to baptism him in order to fulfill all that God demanded.
  • This is my Son, God said, My favor rests on him.

A Message from Mr. Oberdorf

Christmas Concert

Our Christmas concert was Thursday, December 19th. We had two outstanding performances. The students and staff put a lot of effort into the show and it was a wonderful performance. Smiles and songs filled the gym. The bell choir did a great job kicking off the show. Our 5th-8th graders demonstrated their drumming skills and students in grades K4-8 shared their amazing voices with friends and family. A big shout out to Mrs. Weyer, Ms. Esquivel, and Mr. Short, our music teachers, for putting together an outstanding show. Here are a few photos.

To see more photos of the evening please check out the St. John the Evangelist Catholic School Facebook page, The link is above.

Conferences 1/16/25 12:00-8:00

Mandatory parent/ student/ teacher conferences for grades K4-8 are Thursday, January 16. Please bring your child with you to the conference. Conferences are 15 minutes long. You will be notified of your conference time by 1/13/25.

Service Hours

Our grade 5-8 students are expected to complete 30 total hours of service over the course of their four years at SJE. The expectation is 5 hours in 5th grade, 5 hours in 6th grade, 10 hours in 7th grade, and 10 hours in 8th grade. If a student started with us after 5th grade the hours are adjusted based on the above numbers. If a student is short in an earlier year the hours may be made up in the later years.

Service hours are not counted until the service hour slip is completed, signed by a leader of the activity, and turned into Mr. Courchane.

Basketball Season- Concession Stand Help

We still need help with concessions. Money made from concessions helps keep costs down and grow our program.

There are opportunities available for students in grades 5-8 to complete service hours. If you or your middle school child are interested in helping out please use the link below to sign up today.

If Greenfield School District has a BUS Delay, our school will still open on time. For any emergency closing at St. John's, we will contact you via email and our school website. Normally, we will not close school in the middle of the day. You may pick your child up if the Greenfield School District closes early.
