Family Prayer

Feast of the Presentation of the Lord

Reading I : Malachi 3:1-4

There will come to the temple the Lord whom you seek.

  • Malachi was faithful to his Jewish faith; yet, he was critical of the priesthood of his time.
  • God visits the temple.
  • God’s visit results in purification of both the sacrifices and the ministers.

Reading II : Hebrews 2:14-18

He had to become like his brothers and sisters in every way.

  • Jesus shares in the flesh and blood of humanity.
  • Jesus is the compassionate high priest.
  • Because Jesus suffered he is able to help those who suffer.

Gospel : Luke 2:22-40

My eyes have seen your salvation.

  • Jesus grew up in a devout Jewish family and society.
  • Simeon predicts that Jesus will cause conflict and division within Israel.
  • Simeon and Anna knew that Jesus was God’s promised Redeemer.

A Message from Mr. Oberdorf

New Teachers at SJE!

SJE has two new teachers. Please welcome Ms. Lisiecki and Ms.Wedeward. Ms. Lisiecki is our new 4th grade teacher. Ms.Wedeward will be the long term middle school literacy teacher for Mrs. Wisniewski when she leaves to have her baby at the end of February/ March. Please welcome them to our SJE community.

Ms. Lisiecki

Hello! I’m Hannah Lisiecki, and I’m so excited to be starting my teaching journey at Saint John the Evangelist!

I recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin Parkside. In my classroom, I aim to blend creativity and structure, allowing students to think critically and express themselves. I’m committed to building strong relationships with each of my students, knowing that a positive connection is key to fostering success.

When I’m not teaching, I enjoy baking, frisbee golfing and reading, and I’m always open to learning new things—both as a teacher and a lifelong learner.

I’m thrilled to be a part of the Saint John the Evangelist community, and I can’t wait to see what this year holds for us!

Ms. Wedeward

My name is Ms. Wedeward. I am a recent graduate of Marquette University. I completed my student teaching in 2nd grade at St. Mary's in Hales Corner. I am very excited to join this wonderful community at St. John the Evangelist, as a long-term sub for Mrs. Wisniewski.

I really like to play pickleball, go skiing, and play with my orange cat Louie! I look forward to getting to know the teachers, students, parents and the community at St. John's.

Cold Weather and Outside

All students are expected to go outside for recess. The office has received requests to keep students in for recess because the child is getting over a cold or has not been feeling well. Due to limited staff availability we will not be able to fulfill future requests. Unfortunately, if your child is not healthy enough to go outside for recess, he or she should be kept home for the day.

Please make sure your child has warm clothing for recess, i.e. winter coat, snow pants, boots, hat, scarf, and gloves. We will always go out for recess unless the Real Feel Temperature is 0 Degrees or below. We do have a supply of winter wear for those occasions when a student may have forgotten or lost a hat or gloves, but the supply is limited.
