Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Reading I : Jeremiah 17:5-8

Happy are those who trust in God.

• The reading from Jeremiah draws a clear distinction between the person who trusts God and the one who trusts in human beings.
• Water is a significant aspect of the image.
• The passage presents a straightforward choice; trust God and live; trust flesh and die.

Reading II : 1 Corinthians 15:12, 16-20

Christ is raised from the dead.

• Paul stresses that Christ’s resurrection initiated the resurrection of all those who believe in him.
• Belief in the resurrection of Christ demands belief that we will join him in risen life.
• We are called to abandon trust even in life itself and enter death without despair.

Gospel : Luke 6:17, 20-26

Happy, blessed, are the poor, whose reward is great in heaven.

• Luke’s Gospel portrays Jesus' special concern for the poor and vulnerable.
• In today’s passage, Jesus pronounces blessing on the poor and woe to the rich.
• The poor know their only hope is in God.

Registration for track and futsal is now open. Please register today. Futsal (indoor soccer) is co-ed and available for students in grades K4-6. Track is available for boys and girls in grades 5-8. Track season begins in April.

Register for the 2025-26 School Year

Registration for the 2025-26 school year is happening now. Registration paperwork has been sent home in prior Thursday folders. If you have any questions, please contact the school office. Thank you for choosing SJE for your family.

MPCP and WPCP CHOICE Registration Opened

Parents may apply for the Wisconsin Choice (WPCP) between February 3 and April 17th.

This period for the Milwaukee Choice (MPCP) will run till February 20th. The next open period for the Milwaukee Choice (MPCP) will be from March 1 - March 20.

Families must reapply to the program each year. Please log into the Choice website and complete this process as soon as possible.

The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) has posted a number of resources for Choice schools and parents for the upcoming 2025-26 student application process.

Archbishop Grob

Our new Archbishop has started a blog reflecting on the faith, current events, personal memoirs, or important issues. It is called “The Branches” blog and you can subscribe by visiting the Archdiocese of Milwaukee website. Archbishop Grob also invites you to hear his weekly audio program featuring inspiring Catholic conversations with guests from the Archdiocese. The “Living Our Faith” radio podcast airs on Fridays at 8:00 a.m. on Relevant Radio (100.1-FM or 1640-AM). The show also streams on iTunes and Spotify.

Finally, the new Archbishop is recording a brief weekly video message called “The Good News.” A new video message of encouragement will be available every Wednesday. You can watch the message at: www.archmil.org/Good-News.

Register for Safe Environment

The Archdiocese of Milwaukee has a partnership with Catholic Mutual Group to provide Safe Environment Education. All participants must register online. If interested, please register on the archdiocesan website https://www.archmil.org/home.

View a listing of upcoming safe environment education sessions.

You must complete this class in order to volunteer in the school or accompany students on any field trips.

Scrip is available at all weekend Masses or during regular business hours at the parish office. You may also use the RaiseRight App (below).
