April Core Essential: Humility

The monthly value for April is Humility: Putting others first by giving up what you think you deserve.

"All streams flow to the ocean because it is lower than they are. Humility gives it its power." - Lao Tzu

A core component of this program is family involvement; we greatly appreciate your continued support of our monthly value outside of the school day.

Lost and Found

All lost and found items are on tables in the front hallway. Make sure to check them out before they get donated to those in need.

Kentucky Summative Assessment: May 9 – May 15

The Kentucky Summative Assessment, KSA, will be given to all third through eighth grade students. The assessment will begin on Tuesday, May 9, and will continue through Monday, May 15. Third and sixth grade students will complete testing on Thursday, May 11, fourth and seventh grade students will complete testing on Friday, May 12, and fifth and eighth grade students will complete testing on Monday, May 15. The testing window frame for each day is 8:00 to 11:00 a.m.

It is very important that your child attends school every day and arrives on time. The assessments will begin promptly at 8:15 a.m. and continue until all parts of the assessment scheduled for each day are completed.

We ask that you do not make appointments during school hours on those days so that your child will not miss any part of his/her assessment. In order for your child to do his/her best, please make sure he/she gets plenty of rest and eats breakfast at home or at school. Studies have proven that rest and a good breakfast will enhance student performance. We also ask that you do not visit the school during testing hours so that we can provide a consistent testing environment for all students.

Our faculty and staff have worked diligently in teaching your child. The Kentucky Summative Assessment is one way to determine if your child has mastered grade level standards. We would like to ask your assistance in encouraging your child to do his or her best on the assessment. You can do this by asking your child to read all directions carefully, think about the answer to the questions, and answer all parts of every question.

Thank you for your continued support of Anchorage Public School.
