Dear Infant, Toddler, Primary 3, Primary 4, Extended and All Day Kindergarten Parents/Guardians,
With the holidays fast approaching, I want to share with you a board decision regarding school operations.
The private programs on the ECC campus are (and have always been) considered essential services. These children need in-person care. Remote learning is not effective for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. While the charter students and staff will pivot to 100% remote learning for the week after Thanksgiving and the week after Winter Break, the private programs will continue to remain open as they have since June 1. Please see the letter to our charter families here.
In order for us to be able to keep the COVID-19 virus out of our classrooms and our private programs open, I am strongly requesting that should you travel, gather with individuals outside of your “bubble”, or gather with more than 10 people, you voluntarily quarantine your child for 14 days before they return to school. I am asking this of the staff as well. Closing classrooms is extremely disruptive for the students, staff and parents. Let us all do our part in keeping these programs open.
The office staff will continue their daily communications with families and students with symptoms and with those awaiting test results. This provides us with critical up-to-date information and allows for tremendous oversight. We will continue to track this data at the school and will make additional decisions accordingly.
Stay safe. Stay healthy.
Margo S. O’Neill, M.Ed.
