Students, Parents, Teachers & Friends of Education,

"Education is our mission but school safety is our first priority," is an often repeated saying in education circles. The principle of safety first is one Barrow County School System employees take very seriously. In order to help students, families and community members better understand what we are doing to put safety first we have created a school safety webpage. This webpage provides an overview of what we are doing to keep students, faculty and staff safe in our schools. We hope that you will take the time to explore this resource.  Please view our "School Safety" webpage .

School Safety

Barrow County Schools welcomes John Skinner as Chief Safety and Security Officer. In this newly created position, Chief Skinner will be responsible for providing school safety leadership by planning, organizing, implementing, and coordinating school safety and security activities.
Chief Skinner comes to Barrow County Schools after 18 years with Barrow County Emergency Services where he served as firefighter and EMT, shift commander and battalion chief before becoming interim chief. Most recently, he was Chief of Emergency Services for Barrow County.  John has been serving the people of Winder and Barrow for about 22 years.
