As you know, next week (from Tuesday through Thursday) our elementary and middle school students will be taking the national Stanford Achievement Test. As a school, we understand these tests are only one means of assessment and are not capturing the whole child. For this reason, we do not give too much emphasis on these exams and ask you to do the same. They are simply used as a means of comparing our school against others across the nation. Therefore, we do prepare our students to perform well and we ask you to simply ensure they have a restful night of sleep and healthy breakfast the mornings of the tests.

Additionally, we would also like for the students to be relaxed and truly enjoy the next week at school.  With this idea in mind, we have decided to hold this year's school spirit week next week to coincide with Stanford testing. All students in the school are allowed to and encouraged to participate in the spirit week, including ECC and Montessori! This is not just for our elementary and middle school students. Below is a list of how students should dress for each day next week.

Note that for our 1st-7th graders, the only day they must be in uniform is on Wednesday. Students may not bring props of any kind on any of the days. On any given day, students are still required to dress modestly as they are always expected to.

Moonlight Monday - April 27
Students may come dressed in their pajamas or anything comfortable as long as it is still modest. (The 1st-7th graders will still have PE class so be mindful of their footwear and the weather on that day.)

Two-Color Tuesday - April 28
Students may come dressed in our school colors (blue and yellow) for some school pride!

Wacky Wednesday - April 29
Students may come dressed in a crazy hat and/or socks and bring out their creative side. (The 1st-7th graders must be dressed in uniform aside from the hat/socks.)

Throwback Thursday - April 30
Students may come dressed in any historical figure or famous character. This can include anyone from politics, sports, etc. Another idea is to even dress as a character from a book they've read in the past.

Fancy Friday - May 1
Students may come dressed in formal wear of their choosing, such as dress pants and shirts, ties, dresses, shalwaar-kameez, abayas, thobes, suits, etc.

We look forward to seeing our students dressed up and excited next week!
