Dear Dayton Christian Families,
Beginning tomorrow, March 13, Dayton Christian School will be closed to all students for the next three weeks.
This is in response to a decision made today by Governor Mike DeWine to close all Ohio schools until at least Monday, April 6, as a precautionary response to the coronavirus spread in our state.
Over the past week, our leadership team at DC has met on a regular basis to monitor the coronavirus outbreak, and to take steps to prepare and respond to this ever-evolving situation. As a result, I believe our students and faculty are entering this three-week period standing on solid ground.
For instance, prior to the governor’s announcement, we had already instructed students to take all textbooks home and had created a professional development session tomorrow regarding virtual learning. We will still hold this time of professional development, and will keep you notified on how teachers plan to deliver education to your students over this period of time.
A couple of other details for you to know right now:
All faculty and staff will be working from home beginning Tuesday, March 17.
Therefore, there will be no one at our front desk to greet visitors or take phone calls from March 17 until at least April 6.
All community events will be cancelled or postponed indefinitely beginning tomorrow, March 17.
(Students involved in athletics and fine arts will be receiving information about their sport or event in the coming days.)
We will continue to communicate with you over the next couple of weeks as we work together to weather this storm. Meanwhile, I encourage you to lay aside the temptation to fear during this uncertain time, and turn to the only One who truly understands every detail of this confusing situation.
We serve a Mighty God – one who is never surprised and who is always working all things toward an eternal good.
Dr. John S. Gredy
