The very least you can do in your life is figure out what you hope for. And the most you can do is live inside that hope. Not admire it from a distance but live right in it, under its roof.
Charter Students In-Person Learning
In a communication to parents dated August 24, I stated that “Villa is now looking to potentially open its campuses to charter school students for in-person learning during the week of September 28. This projected date will be re-evaluated – and possibly confirmed -- by the board no later than September 14.” Please be watching for a communication concerning this on Tuesday, September 15.
Please note that families who chose the in-person learning track may switch to the remote learning track if they so choose. Families that chose the remote learning track may select to return to in-person learning after Fall Break, Monday, October 19.
Charter Students In-Person Learning with All Day Contracts
For those of you that selected in-person learning and
are signed up for the elementary Circle program (before and after-school care), we will assume your student will be
utilizing that program unless you contact Leeane in Enrollment and let her know otherwise. Leeane can be reached at Enrollment@villamontessori.com
Anti-Bias and Anti-Racism
We recognize the importance of listening, learning, empathizing and making it okay to talk openly about racism, biases and injustices. We believe that work will help Villa to foster a more inclusive and welcoming community where all feel a strong and meaningful sense of belonging. Next week I will share more about the school’s initiative around this important issue.
Please read this letter
from Superintendent Kathy Hoffman and AZDHS encouraging everyone to get a flu shot this year. They have asked that we forward this communication to our families.
Elementary Goal Setting Conferences
Given our unique circumstances this school year, as well as the potential timing of re-opening the campus for in-person learners, we have elected to conduct goal-setting conferences differently this year. Teachers are currently having conversations with their students about setting personal and academic goals for the school year. They will be sending out an email to you next week sharing this information and inviting you to share your thoughts. If you feel that a conversation is needed via ZOOM, teachers will be available on September 18 in the afternoon (as noted on the calendar for goal setting conferences) for a 10-15 minute ZOOM meeting. Please send an email directly to your teacher to request a meeting. This conference is optional. Given the likeliness that we will be returning to in-person learning the week of September 28, teachers will use September 25 (the other calendar date for conferences) to prepare their classrooms rather than hold conferences that afternoon.
Primary Goal Setting Conferences
Teachers are meeting with the parents of their in-person students via zoom on September 18 and 25 according to the school calendar. Academic day charter kindergarteners, as well as any students on “hold”, will have their goal setting conferences at a later date.
Have a wonderful weekend.
