Dear Villa Community,
I hope you all had a pleasant Spring Break. It was very quiet around here! Many thanks to those families that chose to self-quarantine following travel during the break. I cannot thank you enough for making that choice for the safety of our students and staff.

Camelback High School Returning to In-Person
On March 30, Camelback will be returning to in-person learning. This could potentially affect the amount of traffic on 28th Street. I am sharing this now so that we can all start being prepared for that change.
A friend shared this wonderful article on how parents can help their children to be mentally strong. The author describes 7 key strengths that develop mental muscles. It is worth the read. Click HERE to view this article.
Another helpful website you may like to explore involves the concept of growth mindset. The staff has participated in some professional development around this topic in the past and we thought some of you might find it helpful too. The website presents ten lessons for parents and describes best practices to help children develop positive beliefs about their learning. If you are interested, please visit Mindsetkit.org.
The board met with facilitator Crystal Blackwell for a listening session on diversity, equity and inclusion this week. She will be developing recommendations for the board from that session and will be designing some future training for the board as well.
Crystal and Coach EJ will also be facilitating a staff focus group scheduled for April 5. Staff received a survey this week to capture their experience regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion at Villa. Results from that survey will be used to guide some of the focus group discussions.
The board’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Sub-committee continues to meet regularly to support the board’s work in this area. The committee is participating in a book study, will review the recommendations from the board’s listening session, and will receive feedback from Crystal and EJ on the staff focus group.
Villa's Auction Committee Needs You!
Please contribute to Villa's Week of Giving 2021 virtual auction event by donating your gift cards and wine bottles valued at $20 or more. Donations will be made available at the silent auction, and all money raised will help to support Villa's classrooms and classroom assistants. Bring all items to Villa's Main Administration Office by April 1, 2021. Thank you!
Villa Montessori’s Public School Tax Credit Campaign
April 15, 2021, is the deadline to make your contribution to Villa Montessori’s AZ Public School Tax Credit! A tax credit is the ONLY way you get to decide where your tax money goes. If you owe on your AZ state taxes, you can make a donation to Villa and it counts as a reduction on your tax liability. For example, if you donate $400 your state tax credit would be $400. You get the tax credit and Villa students get new books, playground equipment, shading, health care supplies, gardening tools, music and band equipment, and much more. Do it for the kids! Thank you, everyone! (See below for more information.)
Tomorrow, March 20 is the first day of spring. Enjoy our beautiful weather!
