Dear Infant, Toddler, Primary 3, Primary 4, Extended and All-Day Kindergarten Parents/Guardians,
The Villa Board met this week and engaged in deliberations regarding the current COVID situation. Here is what the Board decided regarding school operations following winter break.
The charter students and staff will engage in 100% remote learning for two weeks following winter break. The private programs (infant, toddler, P3, P4, and extended and all-day kindergarteners) will continue to remain open as they have since June 1. Please see the letter to our charter families here
. The private programs on the ECC campus are (and have always been) considered essential services and the ages of the children require in-person care.
I again plead with you to consider the unintended consequences that can result from some holiday activities. We ALL need to do our part outside of school (especially during this time) in order to help keep our classrooms open. Please review the recommendations from health officials regarding safety measures HERE
As I wrote prior to the Thanksgiving holiday, I strongly request that should you travel, gather with individuals outside of your “bubble”, or gather with more than 10 people, you voluntarily quarantine your child for 14 days before they return to school.
Please keep communicating with the office about symptoms, positive and/or negative tests. The office staff will continue their daily communications with families and students with symptoms and with those awaiting test results. This provides us with critical up-to-date information and allows for necessary oversight. We will continue to track this data at the school and will make additional decisions accordingly.
Current COVID-19 Cases (In-person)
Currently, we still have one elementary student who had tested positive for the virus. That student’s classroom has ended their quarantine and is back at school. The infant room that was previously quarantined is also back open. We have 1 primary classroom closed for quarantine at this time.
The staff absentee rate:
ECC – 3 (close contacts to a positive child, class quarantined)
Elem II – (1 has symptoms)
The percentage of students experiencing symptoms of COVID-19:
ECC = .03%
Toddler I – 1 student
Toddler II – 1 student
Primary – 2 students
Elem = .02%
Elem I - 3
Elem II – 1
The number of students in quarantine as close contacts (excluding classrooms): 0
The number of in-person students currently positive for COVID:
Primary - 1
Elem I - 1
With this holiday season being different from any other we have known, I wish you peace and joy and hope you are able to create some new memories.
