Dear Parents,

Thank you so much for your support and flexibility this past week. I am very proud of students, parents, faculty, and staff!

The faculty met today to finalize planning for SGWS Learning Beyond the Classroom. This email includes details for our ongoing work together. Please be patient with yourselves, your children, and your teachers as we all learn how to do something new together.

Daily Rhythm:

We have all experienced a major disruption to our daily lives. Please consider these recommendations below to support your daily rhythm. We know it will be difficult, but consider establishing a consistent rhythm as soon as possible.

Communication:

Email will be our main form of communication. We will also offer hard copies of lessons for those without a printer or limited email access. Please check your email daily Monday through Friday.

We will conduct weekly class meeting calls with parents of each grade beginning this week. Early Childhood teachers will conduct their call together.  If you are unable to participate, teachers will send out a recording of the call for viewing at your convenience.

The schedule for calls is:
Early Childhood (all classes): Thursday, March 19 at 2:00 p.m.
Grade 1: Thursday, March 19 at 4 p.m.
Grade 2: Thursday, March 19 at 7 p.m.
Grade 3: Wednesday, March 18 at 4 p.m.
Grade 4: Wednesday, March 18 at 6 p.m.
Grade 5: Thursday, March 19 at 5 p.m.
Grade 6: Wednesday, March 18 at 7 p.m.
Grade 7: Wednesday, March 18 at 5 p.m.
Grade 8: Thursday, March 19 at 6 p.m.

Parents of grades students will receive an email from your class teacher with an invitation to join the meeting call. Parents of Early Childhood students will receive an email from Julie Gannon with an invitation to join the meeting call.

All teachers will have office hours on weekdays from 1 to 3 pm beginning March 30th for those families with individual questions. If this time doesn’t work for you, please contact the teacher directly.

Lessons:

Your students will receive their first weekly lessons on 3/30. Grades students will receive weekly lessons from class teachers and subject teachers.

For each week of lesson, you will receive an email by 8:00 am on that Monday with a digital file of lessons for the week. There will also be a box for each class under the dismissal area. The class boxes will serve as our post office for delivering hard copies of lessons for those families without a printer or with limited email access.
Depending on the grade, the weekly email will also include video and/or audio files to accompany the lesson. Teachers will provide support to parents without the ability to access these files.

Please utilize the office hours listed above and parent meetings to address questions related to the lessons.
We recognize that this is an ever changing situation and we will continue to adapt our approach as necessary. As we practice a temporary social distance, our work will continue to thrive in the interconnected nature of humanity through the use of technology. Thank you for coming together as a community in support of the children.
