From the Principal - Mrs. Amy Nelson
Dear families,

I am excited to introduce to you our new Spanish teacher, Mrs. Melissa Kultgen. Mrs. Kultgen recently met with our current Spanish teacher, Mrs. Erica McPherson, to go over our Spanish curriculum. Mrs. Kultgen asked to share her letter below. Welcome Mrs. Kultgen to the SJB Family!

On a sad note, Mrs.Jennifer Erdly has resigned her position as our Music teacher due to taking a public school position. We appreciate the years that Mrs. Erdly spent here sharing her gifts and talents in both music and drama. It is with gratitude that I wish her the very best in her future endeavors. Mrs. Erdly will be missed. Please click here to read Mrs. Erdly's letter to our SJB families.

In closure, we are continuing to develop our school reopening plans and I will inform you once we have more details available for you to view on our website. As you know, our goal is to be back to school in person 5 days a week (Module A). I understand and respect that every family has different comfort levels in regards to going back to school. My responsibility is to ensure your child(ren) receives the education they deserve. If you have any concerns regarding the reopening of school, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

Yours in Christ,

Amy Nelson
Welcome Mrs. Kultgen
Hello families of St. John the Baptist School!

My name is Melissa Kultgen, and I am so blessed and honored to be joining St. John the Baptist School this year as your children’s Spanish teacher. I am excited to meet your children and watch them grow as language learners! My own passion for learning the Spanish language developed at an early age thanks to my magnificent teachers, and I hope to ignite that same passion in your children.

Those same teachers that inspired my love for language also inspired me to become a teacher. I graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin Mequon in 2014 with my BA in Secondary English and a minor in Spanish. I then went on to work at a few different schools including Immanuel Lutheran School in Sheboygan, Sheboygan Lutheran High School, and most recently St. John Lutheran School in Plymouth. I am humbled that God has brought me to St. John the Baptist School for the next chapter of my teaching career!

My family is super excited to meet you all as well! We live in Belgium, which is slightly south of Plymouth, so it will be nice to have both of my worlds so close together. My husband Eric and I have been married for five years this August, together for eleven. We have a two-year-old daughter, Evelyn Mae, and a four-year-old rescue dog, Patches. Evie has already visited school with me, and she can’t wait to help get the classroom ready!

I thank you in advance for the privilege and blessing to teach your children!

¡Hasta pronto! See you soon!

Blessings,

Melissa Kultgen
