Promoting Respect for All This Week and Throughout the Year
|
|
NYC DOE schools are in the midst of marking
Respect for All Week
(February 10 - 14)
, spotlighting programs that promote acceptance and understanding and that prevent bullying, intimidation, and bias-based harassment. Building social-emotional skills can help promote a safe, supportive school environment for all students, and is embedded in the goals of high-quality Health and Physical Education. Use the New York City
Physical Education
and
Health Education
Scope and Sequence documents (accessible on WeTeachNYC) to learn how PE and health education curricula support social-emotional learning skills, and how to incorporate them in your classroom instruction. And don't forget to register for the following professional learning opportunities to learn how to make school communities more inclusive and safe for all students:
- March 10: Middle and High School Health Education Basics 4: LGBTQ-Affirming Schools in the Bronx
- April 29: Elementary Health Education Basics 4: LGBTQ-Affirming Schools in Queens

- Thursday: Gender Identity, Sexual Orientation, and LGBTQ pride and acceptance
