School Wellness Weekly

Professional Learning Edition

Welcome Back!

In his address to new teachers in August, Chancellor David C. Banks shared words of appreciation for stepping into what he regards as “the most important profession in the entire world.” We couldn’t agree more! He emphasized that teachers build relationships with students by listening, getting to know them, and “showing them who you are.”

The Office of School Wellness Programs is here to support you in the collective work to empower young people to take care of their minds, bodies, and the people around them. This newsletter is an important way we do that—by sharing links to our free professional learning opportunities and instructional resources to help you plan your year.

Each month, you and all NYCPS PE and Health Education teachers and APs will receive two editions of School Wellness Weekly:

  • the Professional Learning edition, with short registration links for professional learning for the upcoming month. (Occasionally, we’ll send an expanded issue like this one.)
  • the general edition, with Citywide school wellness-related classroom resources, grants, educator spotlights, partner opportunities, and information for parents/families.

Bookmark our Professional Learning Catalog as a one-stop-shop for your professional learning needs—and be on the lookout for the full launch of our Fall professional learning next month!
