Welcome back! We hope you had a wonderful break and are rested, rejuvenated, and ready to tackle 2025.


We ended 2024 on a bright note, thrilled that more than 4,450 teachers joined us for a fall professional learning opportunity! We hope to see just as many of you in the new year.  

To help you kick off 2025 on the right foot, this expanded issue includes additional resources for teachers.

High School Professional Development Day is around the corner!  Stay tuned for details and registration information for online professional learning for PE and health education teachers in schools serving grades 6-12 and 9-12. Registration will launch next week! 


The NYC Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA) Summit will take place on Monday, January 27, from 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at LaGuardia High School. Registration for students and GSA faculty advisors is open through Monday, January 13. For more information, including how to register, check out the NYC GSA Summit 2025 website.

NYC FITNESSGRAM

The deadline to enter NYC FITNESSGRAM student data is Friday, March 28. Use the new NYC FITNESSGRAM Pacing Guides updated with this year's earlier deadline and NYC FITNESSGRAM Support Center Resources to help you successfully plan. Don't forget the NYC Scope and Sequence documents for both elementary grades and secondary grades to help you map out your units and ensure you align your content to the Physical Education Standards.


Need access to the NYC FITNESSGRAM App to enter student data? Eligible PE teachers have two options:


  • Complete the Self-Guided-Course: Introduction to NYC FITNESSGRAM Course (CTLE: 60 minutes) You can start, stop, and complete this course anytime.
  • Register for one of the two live webinars scheduled for Monday, January 27 (High School PD Day). Registration links are coming soon.


Move-to-Improve Champions

The deadline for schools to train eligible elementary teachers to be on track for Move-to-Improve All-Star Status is Friday, January 31. PE Teachers who are trained as MTI Champions should reach out to your Office of School Wellness Programs borough team if you need support!

Coach Camp - Enhance Your Coaching Skills and Elevate your Impact: Join this in-person, three-hour workshop with coaches from Exos and Wellness in the Schools in collaboration with the Office of School Wellness Programs and District 22. Participants will dive deep into teaching and coaching topics, share best practices, and collaborate with NYC PE teachers and peers.

Grades K-12: Wednesday, January 22, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (CTLE: 180 minutes)


Strong and Fit - Weight Room and Fitness Center Instruction: Join this in- person, full-day workshop to review high quality instructional approaches for safe and effective PE in weight rooms and fitness centers. Participants will receive a sample pacing guide, exercise progression chart, and other resources to support standards-based weight room instruction.
