Classes begin at Ecole du Village

After five months of no school due to the pandemic, Ecole du Village opened the doors last week to its 134 students for the new school year!

Due to the lack of electricity and limited economic resources on the island, distance learning is not an option for kids in Ile-a-Vache. Instead, armed with optimism and caution and following protocols such as wearing masks, practicing social distance, and regularly washing hands, Ecole du Village started in-person classes.

Even though things are a little different this year, students and teachers are very excited to start the new year, reunite with friends, and above all, continue with their education goals. Their smiles might be hidden behind those masks, but we can surely see the spark in their eyes!

We wish them a happy, safe, and productive new school year.
We can always use an extra pencil!
Your donation helps us pay for much needed school supplies throughout the academic school year.
We want to extend a special thank you to TAILORED for EDUCATION, an organization that strives to increase school enrollment by providing children with school uniforms, for donating uniforms and masks to all our 134 students in Ecole du Village.

Partnering with the EDEM Foundation, TAILORED for EDUCATION has provided uniforms to over 1,200 children in the south of Haiti, including our students.

THANK YOU!
UPDATE
Jenel's Family enjoying their new home.
In 2016 Hurricane Matthew severely damaged Jenel's home. With a sick father, little brothers, and sisters to take care of, and no economic means, repairing the house became a hopeful dream. This past June thanks to the program Buy a Home/Build a Home, the dream became a reality as we started the construction of a new home for Jenel and his family. Hard work, dedication, and a lot of love paid off a couple of weeks ago when the house was finished and the family moved into their new beautiful home.

On behalf of Jenel, his family, and Flying High from Haiti, we would like to thank the Buy a Home/Build a Home program and everyone who made this dream come true. The smiles say it all!
COMING SOON
Stay tuned...
